ok... so first off. A bass player I am not. Apparently, I'm barely a guitar player as well since trying to get three and a half minutes of this rhythm had my left hand feeling like it was in a vice.
Anyway, I've had the basics of this progression around for about four years or so but never any lyrics and not for a lack of trying either. But yay FAWM for helping me feel a little more comfortable in my skin and for the inspiration to drag this out and get it done. Yeah, believe it not... the people here have helped me a ton in many ways other than just songwriting. Still self conscious about my voice, especially on this one as it seems it wanted to drift lower in its resonance.
Alright, so as to getting to those lyrics... the music has always sounded kind of sensual in nature and I started thinking of a couple dancing. And not just the straight folks. This one's for all my queer brothers, sisters and enbies as well.
So yeah. Inspiration, still growing, yay FAWM, I love y'all... yada yada yada... bing bang boom! Second FAWM song of '22 done!
I see you walk into
this dim lit crowded smoke filled room
you’ve caught my eye
I wave you to my table
your shy demeanor and quite nature
on full display
i know it’s not your style
you’re more the strong silent type
but let’s give this a try
Come on take my hand
i’ll even lead if that helps some
let’s do this thing
Come on dance with me
like nobody’s watching
Come on dance with me
like nobody’s watching
hold me really close
as if the world’s about to fold
like last days are here
Don’t leave a dark what-if
clawing at you with regret
i am yours if you want
mmmm….. that’s it
movin’ tied right to the hips
just a little slower
let’s make this last all night
just you and me no one’s in sight
tangled limbs,
breath on my neck
hands grip pull and push your back
Come on take my hand
i’ll even lead if that helps some
let’s do this thing
Come on dance with me
like nobody’s watching
Come on dance with me
like nobody’s watching
hold me really close
as if the world’s about to fold
like last days are here
Don’t leave a dark what-if
clawing at you with regret
i am yours if you want

Very cool sensual lyrics, great lines in there like don´t leave a dark what if and I know it´s not your style, you are more the storng silent type. Great stuff. Your voice to me is really good, you are a little timid with using it but for this piece that works out very well. That lower register of yours is definately workable. Just let it out!

This has such a fantastic groove and love the sultry lyrics!

The heady abandon of the lyrics is so nice! The chord rhythm works really well to convey that sense of excitement and energy; especially without using drums. But don't beat yourself up on your playing. I've been playing guitar for decades, and play bass as well, and this would be tricky for me as well!

Great rhythm and love the lyrics. Guitar has a marvellous feel to it.

Digging this smooth-as-silk-groove...
It feels so up close and personal. A real whisper in the ear. Kinda naughty and a lot of fun.
And enough of this "not a guitar player" thing. Those chord brushes are sweet! :D

Love your voice on this! Reminds me of smoky barroom singers in the movies.
Very intense, in a choked back way that feels very emotion-heavy... built up wonderfully and I surprised it was over 3 minutes, I wish it went on longer!

Love the groove, sweet chords. The lyrics and performance are quite seductive too! The fade-out suits it well.

This song is absolutely delicious! Like @gardeningangel1 said it is so danceable and sultry. Your guitar playing is wonderful. Love this!

Wooo dang, I'm ace and this still got my temperature up ;) So danceable and sultry, this is a solid song. With so many moving parts this is a solid demo to put together in such a short time. Super catchy, that acoustic keeps it all moving steady and the other instruments add so many tasty layers. The echoed vocals on the last chorus are a nice effect. I hope you get the time to do the final polish on this one after the madness of FAWM is over because this is definitely a keeper.

Nice and sultry. I like the gentle intimate vocals—like someone whispering into your ear.
@intoyourlight Feb 2022
What a great song! Your guitar playing is great, wish I could strum like that. You captured that sensual feeling so good.
@tseaver Feb 2022
Nice write! Personifying the 'dark what-if' works really well. The slinky arrangement is perfect for the lyric.
@miga Feb 2022
Very cool chords and rhythm. You are most certainly a guitar player!
@alyxanderjames Feb 2022
This is an excellent groove! I can understand why your hand would be sore by the end, though. :D Seriously, this is really lovely, you've captured the mood perfectly with all the elements you've brought together here - the guitar, the bass, your voice, the lyrics, they all work together to paint a really vivid picture!

Oh yeah, the guitar playing has a really nice groove to it that makes me want to dance! It feels like I'm at an outdoors party in a hot summer night. I really liked the guitar playing, with the transition chords and the rhythmic strumming, and your voice is great! Love this!
