Another uplifting song, not :D !
V1
If I’m being honest
I’ve been lying to myself
Reliving past behavior
And expecting something else
V2
The games I used to play
Aren’t working anymore
And who am I to tell you
How much you can afford
Chorus
I don’t want to feel
I don’t want to cry
I don’t want to live in this place
Where I’m slowly dying
Red eyes in the morning I can’t hide
We’ve got to stop this time
(This is goodbye)
V3
I wish that things were different
And everything was fine
When you push for answers
Words betray me every time
V4
What’s left is not enough
To fill in all the cracks
Too stuck to go forward
Too afraid to go back
Bridge
I can’t feel anymore
I can’t cry anymore
I can’t live in this place
Where I’m slowly dying
Outro
So darlin’ it’s over
Yeah it’s over
You know that it’s over
It’s over

A pop breakup banger right here!!! I love the rhythmic contrast of the verse and chorus sections. “Red eyes in the morning I can’t hide” love this lyric, feel like it could also be about catching a flight. I also really appreciate when a title lyric is somewhere other than the chorus, I feel like it makes me pay closer attention to the lyrics to find out when it’s coming. It’s giving me Julia Michaels energy, I’d really love to hear some pop production with this! Amazing song, Susan— new favorite! ️

Those hard relationship songs. Nice. Thoughtful, not over the top.
And good guitar playing, and you made it rhythmically interesting.
@moonraccoon Feb 2022
Excellent! I absolutely love how the front end of the chorus shifts to triplets. I really dig your guitar playing.
@grayland Feb 2022
Great job!!! The guitar playing is so very nice and you have that special uniqueness to your voice... very recognizable... Girl and Guitar...it's perfect!! I'm a new fan!!!

Cool funky acoustic rhythm in the verses. Very nice vocal to go along with the sweet guitar.
I like the mix between the sad lyric and the upbeat guitar.
Well done.

Also kudos for the way the perkiness of the tune belies the lyric. I do like a nice bit of subversion!

Very sad lyric, but very good with it and I particularly like the guitar work. Clever time change in the chorus.
@guatecoop Feb 2022
I love that time change for the chorus! I was thinking about how you can sing and play like that, so just I’m just imagining sitting there watching you play and sing….great song!! Wow, what a cool flow. Well done again!

Really like the guitar on this! The melody is lovely, and your vocals are beautiful - love the high notes. The measures of 3/4 time at the beginning of the chorus are really ear-catching. Really enjoyed listening!
@jorh Feb 2022
The guitar sounded great in this, you got into a beautiful rhythm. And loved the textures of your voice when you pushed it in v2/4!! The weaving melody in the chorus was an absolute treat too
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
nice choppy guitar - sets a nice base for this lyrics delivery. Nice hear you push your voice up and out there! well done another nice one!
@gregwere Feb 2022
I like the progressive build up on the guitar progression, really nice rhythm for a ballad, nice write.

The groove of this is such a nice counterpoint to the dry resignation in the lyrics. I love high register stuff too. Nice work!
