With the Olympics underway, our curling club is getting a lot of press. We usually give the journalists a quick lesson how to slide on the ice and they discover that curling is a full body sport. "Broomstacking" is the socializing after a match, and Malort is a foul-tasting spirit native to Chicago. It's not really a common broomstacking beverage, but it ryhymed with "sport," and I sampled it --once--at the club.
Just a few instructions you’ll be curling soon
Left hand helps you balance with stabilizer or broom
Right foot on the hack slider on the ice
Right hand holds the rock push it forward once or twice
Eyes on the skip’s signal so you’ll know what to do
Lightly grip the handle turned to 10 or 2
As you bring the rock back raise up the hips high
Press the right foot firmly get power from your thigh
Right hand pushes forward keep the broom in sight
Keep your left knee bent as you straighten out the right
Gently with the wrist release at 12 o’clock
Bring on the sweepers to control the rock
They sweep down the sheet along the stone bounding
Arms pumping hard, hearts and lungs pounding
Back in the house the skip works her brain
Mapping out the angles for maximum gain
You can see curling’s a full body sport
More than broomstacking with shots of Malort.

Educational and fun! I love your descriptions and the ukulele works well here. I really like how you got so specific and used the body parts prompt well. Great write!

Perfect little song. I just learned a lot about curling...Thank you. All that sweeping with the broom must help with shoveling...Just say'n!

Great fun! I love learning something new, and such fine rhyming and meter, too. Simple and delightful, with a lovely voice to deliver it.
