She is alone in her room
Counting out every breath
Waiting for time to tick down
As she is drawn closer to death
She stares off into space
And lets the world pass by
Thinking about its cruelties
All the while wondering why
She could have been somebody
But she never moves from her throne
She could have touched the world
Were it not for her heart of stone
She stops bothering to smile
No longer tolerating the cracking of flesh
Of conveying false emotions
Of feeling like a flower not so fresh
She keeps everything closed
Especially those tired eyes
So wise and oh so bitter
All those goodbyes
She could have been somebody
But she never moves from her throne
She could have touched the world
Were it not for her heart of stone
So many opportunities given
And oh quite wasted
Perhaps she'll break one day
And yearn for a life well tasted
She could have been somebody
But she never moves from her throne
She could have touched the world
Were it not for her heart of stone
She could have been somebody
But she never moves from her throne
She could have touched the world
Were it not for her heart of stone
