NOISY HYPERPOP ABOUT THE INTERNET
I followed FAWM twitter prompt 13.
"This links to a random English word; write a song around that word: https://wordnik.com/randoml "
My word was actually two words haphazardly joined by a hyphen, "force-feeds"
All denizens
of this house of delinquents
we found hate
in an unsafe place
in cyberspace
nobody hears you
scream if you wanna disaster
to each their own
uncertain ratios
oh how it force feeds you
oh I'm a glutton for it
and I'm not innocent
I know
you know
I play my part in it
I know
I know
you know
I am eavesdropping
on the most tedious conversation
and though I try to shut it out
I can't
I don't
I won't
there's no no no no no getting out of it
and I'm so goddamn tired of it

"In cyberspace nobody hears you, Scream if you wanna disaster" is an awesome line for multiple reasons, the Alien reference being one of them. This is such a fun bundle of hyperpop. Dunno if it's just me but your vocals sound more confident and crisper than ever. Did you get a new mic or something? Whatever, it's good to hear
@ofishell Feb 2022
Much in the direction of what @mikedebenham said, I thought, "I don't even know what hyperpop is. I am an Old." And, when the main beat popped in at 0:15, I said, "Oh, that's what hyperpop is." And I will say that I enjoyed it thoroughly!
@mikedebenham Feb 2022
I'd never heard of hyperpop. Stop making me feel old. Your lyrics have a real knack getting to the heart of the 'current moment' or whatever we're calling this shitshow, while still staying light. Now, I bet you think I'm going to lay off with ska pestering eventually, but sorry mate: I was promised ska, I will have some ska.
@frenchcricket Feb 2022
This is a blast! Love those house chord stabs, Also, damn I lost count of the pop hit references. 'we found hate in an unsafe place' is great.
@circle Feb 2022
maximalist, fun, bouncy, really cool! always great synths buzzing around in your tracks. love the Rihanna reference/subversion in the lyrics, and scream if you wanna disaster is an absolutely genius line.
re: my vocals - I use Soundtoys' Little AlterBoy to pitch/formant shift my vocals. that's how I get the "sounds like a girl/unperson" sound. I also sometimes use kerovee, which is free and has more features but a bit more finicky to get the effect I want
@owl Feb 2022
What a bop! I like that chiptune sounding part and the orchestra hit type things (string stabs?) great energy and that sudden stop is awesome!
@alyxanderjames Feb 2022
This is such a banger! Everything about this works well. I particularly like how clipped the word "scream" is - it's a word I'd expect to get held out, and I love that it's not.
@adforperu Feb 2022
Well this slaps! Captures the hyperpop genre very well, but without being derivative. It's so.. frantic. Especially a fan of the change up halfway through the 'I know' parts, almost like a whole song. Some excellent lines in here.
@sailingmagpie Feb 2022
BAAAANNNNGGGEEERRR!!! The chiptune synths are awesome, like you wrote this on a GameBoy. "We found hate
in an unsafe place," really made me smile. Great line.
@shortdan Feb 2022
Love how bouncy this one is. Magic twinkly synth work throughout. I think this is my fave of yours so far actually. Forced a smile out of my miserable Monday morning face anyway - quite the achievement!
@theawkwardsleep Feb 2022
Perfect mix. Such a bouncy poppy tune. Gets me groovin.
@jorh Feb 2022
Amazing production!! The flow on the first verse (/chorus) was a particular highlight , like liquid gold
@judypie Feb 2022
You had me at scream of you want a disaster! It’s VERY boppy and fun.
@frey Feb 2022
this production is amazing I love love love that beat so much
@jackdawfactories Feb 2022
This is really great fun weird pop, which is undoubtedly the best kind.
@pumpkinhead Feb 2022
Cool harmonies in the melody and as dance crazy as it gets. I like how the flow of the vocals slows down ti I know You know. Made me stop to think. Do I know?
Peace
@paulh1237 Feb 2022
Is there an intentional Rihanna song reference here..? So many lines are great here but the opening couplet is the one for me. My fav one of yours so far!
@vomvorton Feb 2022
"scream if you wanna disaster" is very good! This is excellent hyperpop, the little stabs sound great and you've found a ton of great hooks to pile on top of them.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
upbeat tunes crossed with dark lyrics? Yes.
This finds me on a day where I am particularly fucked off with things. I just deleted the last of my social media apps. what a waste of life.
Anyway, I've been a fan of your songs for many FAWMs now and this sucker is right on the money - a groovy, dancey kick in the balls. cool song, is that an aliens riff? I'm gonna put it on again.
