I've got a poster at home.
Sung into my phone as usual. The vocals are a bit drowned out. Massive bum note at the end. I'll get the microphone/laptop on this one ASAP (at some, ah, point)
When I said ‘I love you’
You thought that I was joking
Just playing easy to get.
I’d be lying if I said
I knew what I was doing
That’s as true now as when we met.
Gm, C7, F, D7+
Gm, C7, F
Careless talk
Fearless feelings
The element of surprise
Tell the truth
The way you see it
Careless talk costs lives
Gm, A7, Dm
Gm, A7, Dm, Dm/Eb
Bb, C11, Dm
You’d heard it all before
Enough to know the score
They’re all the same underneath
I don’t know what you saw
Or why you ignored it,
Took a chance and believed
Careless talk
Fearless feelings
The element of surprise
Tell the truth
The way you see it
Careless talk costs lives
All the lives you could have led
All the things you could have said
All the books you could have read
But never did
All the things you could have seen
All the people you could have been
If you hadn’t stayed with me
Careless talk costs lives
Dm x3, Bb, A7
Dm x3, Bb, C11, F
If you’d have told me ‘no’
I would have practised more
Learned to sing and maybe how to play
But if I could put together
Fancy words and jazzy chords
I’d just sing ‘I love you’ anyway
Careless talk…

I adore that upbeat jazzy piano dipping into the minor on the chorus. Such a clever spin on that old phrase.
The last bit "But if I could put together
Fancy words and jazzy chords
I’d just sing ‘I love you’ anyway" wraps it all up with a flirty wink.

Kudos, those words are incredible. They touched a nerve, which is saying something. Wonderful piano playing too

I really loved listening to this. The piano works great and I enjoy the flow of the song. Your vocal intonation really adds something nice as well, thank you for sharing!
