Inspired by the word carapace and a desire to sing it.
Don under the covers
Of his carapace
Troubled by the numbers
In the marketplace
Wondering if others
Out in outer space
Regularly wake up with the blues
He’s not yet entirely convinced of this
But someone with a crystal ball
Predicted bliss
If only he could amplify
Resilience
He’d regularly shake away the blues
Long ago they shocked him
Out of lavender
Mocked him for his iridescent sheen
Talked him into measuring with metric tape and calipers
Leaving him bereft of yellow, burgundy, and green
Dawn under the covers
Of his carapace
Troubled by the brusque and tumbling
Marketplace
Wondering if others
Wish for coup de grace
And regularly wake up with the blues

I had to look up carapace, I confess I never saw that word in a song before. What a great and very fitting word.
Very nice delivery and story.

This is lovely! I love the poetic lyrics and the music ;) So good to hear that hopeful predictions. Makes me want to know more about the character. Any yeah heard the word carapace now for the first time. And will also look up coup de grace. Thanks for the song!
P.S. Do you know that it would be easier to get feedback from the lovely fawm-community, if you would find a way to post your song here?
