Everyone else, maybe skip ahead. Go elsewhere, there are some really good songs appearing every second on the site, check 'em out.
Key of E, 110 bpm, live acoustic guitar+ vocals plus some added bkgd vox.
Changed Andy's self-deprecating, amusing meta tune about getting crappy song #1 out there into fawmland.
A Section:
[E] [B] [A]
[E] Allow me to make myself a little introduction
[C] First word, first thought, some straight communication
[E] Give me a smile, put away your frustration
[A] And brace yourselves friends for what’s to come [B]
[B] Cuz here comes [A] number one
[E] [B] [A]
A Section:
[E] When I was eleven, I was too shy to say hello
[C] It’s a big, wide world and it likes to say “no”

[B] Cuz here comes [A] number one
[E] [B] [A]
B(ridge?) Section
[C] If you don’t like it, there’s a bridge out back to nowhere
[D] Get on that bridge and go ahead, why don’t you go there
[C] I know this won’t win me new friends or change popular opinion
[D] In fact, it’s bound to bring down some heat on
Number One
[E] [B] [A]
A Section:
[E] Alright let’s end this chatter and end it soon
[C] A few more bars of this marvelous tune
[E] How did I come to sing such a virtuous etude
[A] You can blame Andy for this [B] little bit o’ fun, but seriously folks
[B] Look out for [A] number one
[E] [B] [A]
B-ish Section
[C] Okay I’m out, I don't remember why I came here
[D] I can’t be bothered to remember all your names here
[C] It's over now, so [D] get yourself gone, and keep

[B] Here goes [A] number one [E]
[B] There goes [A] number one [E]

Finally traveling down the chain I joined after I posted my link to it. This is not too far off of the initial song, very bluesy take. Quite polished, and somehow you inserted a seed of a story while maintaining a slight metaness. So awesome!
@nadine Feb 2022
It's interesting to hear the full morph chain. You nail Andys self deprecated humour but you got the blues. Such a cool twist.
@debs Feb 2022
Oh my god this is amazing. It's like...completely opposite from Andy's and yet not. Wow. This put a smile on my face big time. Such a great groove and your rhythmic lyric delivery just dances over that funky guitar. Damn that's a nice bass note at the end there! This is sounding a bit more musically like the song that I morphed. :D
@gardeningangel1 Feb 2022
After Andy's unabashedly crappy opener, in waltzes this self-satisfied self-proclaimed number 1. The contrast between the characters is a nice twist... oh and the B(ridge) section! :) There's something very slinky and cat-like about this character. Lots of fun.
@nancycunning Feb 2022
Love this self-confident, unreliable narrator, and those brilliant rhymes. And the singing and playing. Wow.
I also like that introduction of the second voice for Here Comes Number One. Like the Greek chorus in the singer's head reinforcing the message.
@kadmad202 Feb 2022
Impressive final note from someone I always thought was a tenor! Such a fun song, such a narcissistic vibe. That's what makes it work so well. Love your chord selections and the straight-forward strum pattern. Moves the song along just like you want it to. I like it!
@helenseviltwin Feb 2022
Hells yeah! Listening through the morph chain, and I love how you completely turned this around while making it entirely relate to Andy's song. Love it!
@scubed Feb 2022
Great morph of Andy’s hilarious seed song - love the bluesy vibe and the braggadocio-laden lyrics!
@bethkille Feb 2022
Love it John! Great to hear your voice and guitar again. Nice low note at the end-lol!!
@bandybum Feb 2022
Sounding really good, John. Wonderfully playful, the delivery is tight and those harmonies are sweeet!
@dasbinky Feb 2022
I very much enjoy the contrast of usual excellent Crossman coffee house blues with the borderline sociopathic lyrics. I think the average listener is just vibing until "administer a beating". All good, man. All good.
And you clearly had fun hitting that low note in the outro. Well played.
@crisp1 Feb 2022
I'm not clued into the whole morphing thing y'all do, but this is some fun bluesy music to listen to and it's obvious you had a ton of fun writing it. The bridge is a work of art, man.
@nancyrost Feb 2022
Haha, great job making a song from a perspective that is very un-John Crossman-like. I love the way you lean into the bluesy inflections - sounds like you're having a lot of fun, and it's pretty funny!

I played this for my girlfriend and told her the morph concept and she told me not to do a song about needing to go number one or number two.
@blainev83 Feb 2022
So glad you’re back this year! Sounding great as ever!
@darcistrutt Feb 2022
I just listened to Andy’s song. This is a fun path. Still self referencing with the number one. Your bridge lyric made me laugh. Lovely sound.
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Ha! I love the attitude and swagger here! Fun story. Great groove and delivery. Nice nod to Andy!
@andygetch Feb 2022
Oh this is freakin' hilarious and takes self-referential to the next level! Can't wait to hear where this gets morphed to.
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
I haven't heard the other songs yet, but this has a sort of breezy feeling, while the lyrics as very much "I don't give a flying fuck about you" vibe. Very nice!
