I tried a suggestion in my previous upload to add subtle volume automation to parts that don't change much, to give a feeling of movement. I really enjoyed doing this in the mix, and I think it did help allow the song to hold interest for longer.
I think this track has elements that I like and might reuse elsewhere (the rhythmic part), but also elements that I don't love (the real distorted lead bit that comes in at 2 minutes and the kinda boring synth sounds I used), but I'm creatively bankrupt and want to move onto the next track rather than hitting my head against this over and over again.
Would appreciate knowing any points where you wanted to stop listening :) or any other criticism of the choices or mix.

Ambient doesn't lend itself to active listening/scrutiny. I think the repetitiveness is ok. That synth at 2m you're referencing is good but in my opinion would benefit from a bit of space and blend in the mix (so lower vol and more verb) but mostly I think it would serve the track better if it had less attack when it kicks in - more of a sweep in. You just don't want a jump scare with this type of music :P I'll add a similar remark to the synth melody in the first part - maybe just lower a little so that it doesn't ask for attention so much.
Overall it's a good track that you should revisit post-FAWM, and it would definitely fit in my playlist-for-reading-sci-fi! I really love the future noir theme that it conveys

I think the part at 0:46 started to sound a little repetitive and I was hoping to hear another texture in here. It starts to get more interesting at about 1:26. I think at this part of the listening it's too early to lose people, as I want to get into the groove on this. Agreed that the scratches at 2:00 kind of take away from it.
Keep throwing things out there! That's what FAWM is about!
