So far for FAWM, I've taken the approach of just emoting/hollering over open major guitar chords, which is something I haven't done since I was much younger and less concerned with being sophisticated and original. It's yielding some surprising results, like this one with lyrics partially adapted from a Bible passage (perhaps odd for an atheist.) It's a loud prayer for my dead dad, written after my brother mentioned that the boots he'd inherited had just worn out. Also maybe about February in Michigan. The recording is a little out of whack rhythmically, but hey, it's written. I'm putting it out there and moving on.
rain and snow come down
words go out from my mouth
I want to know
right now
i want to know why
we will not return
empty from that dusty road
but the handkerchiefs and boots
can't tell us which way to go
i want to know right now
when does the sun come out
when does the sun come
and when you return
empty from that dusty road
purpose achieved
you can put down your load
you gotta go
right now
spit the words
from your mouth
make the sun come out
I want to know.

Captivating! I love the production - great mix; has a Perry Farrell / Jane's Addiction feel to it. One benefit of letting loose on FAWM is that you never know when you'll find a new fan. I like this a lot!
