I was playing Spotify on shuffle for inspiration and the first thing that came on was a Fado piece, so I thought: Okay, we're gonna do some quasi-fado!!
It was a day
A day in November
Les vacances de Toussaint
At a gaudy lakeside hot dog stand
We were comrades
But not yet comfortable
You gave me your cell phone
To take a picture for your Instagram
And were I to tell the truth
I only wanted to escape
The endless bus rides
The cramped hotels
The looks the two of you would share
Caught in my mind like smoke in hair
And I felt ill — sick of myself
We walked through streets
Streets that I remember
Now they feel so far
Bathed in the chilly autumn light
We saw the locals
They couldn’t see us
They had golden watches
And wore sneakers with their tailored suits
And maybe then our weariness
Cast out the caginess we’d held
For we were laughing —
Laughing at ourselves!
The looks the three of us would share
Made all the world our private fair
On our vacances — les vacances de Toussaint!
Lalalalalalalala etc.

As far as I can judge, it is quite close to fado !
The guitar line at the beguining is very nice. And the alternate bass with the guitar chords got the groove.
Nice nostalgy lyrics. Perfect fit for the fado mood. Les vacances de la Toussaint are the most dreary part of year from my point of view : summer is but a memory, days are getting shorter and shorter, the sky is gray and the air is damp. We're commemorating world war one and the festive days are le jour des morts (day of the deads) and Halloween. A perfect time for nostalgy and sadness. I hope I'll rememer your song next Toussaint, i'll soften my saudade.

Beautiful singing, and the lyrics are really evocative of the scene. Don't know much of fado, but this sounds great, and your guitar playing really works here.

Wow! This is so beautiful! Great lyrics and melody is simply fabulous... I love the rhythm and wonderful vocal delivery... You took me to a far, romantic Mediterranean place...

I am in a French cafe in the sun watching people pass by listening to this! (metaphorically!)
Lovely evocative vocal and great lyrics. So happy I found you through the random button!

Very lovely! I can smell the scents of fall thanks to your evocative singing, and feel all dreamy listening to these beautiful chords!
J'aime beaucoup la petite phrase en français, ta prononciation est parfaite!

Interesting story. The protagonist is stuck in a bus tour with two people who give each other looks that make her ill! Walking through strange places with locals in sneakers and tailored suits. At least they can laugh at themselves. And at the saints? I'm left with questions, for sure.
