I'd never known
How I might enjoy this cold.
A feeling more awake
Than what I had been told it may be.
To stay away and never see
The dangers of a current,
Warnings of high tide,
But it wasn't for long I could hide.
The smallest blunder,
One missed step.
And so I tumbled
Into the depths.
A bed did await,
smoothed by years gone by,
There to see my last breaths.
An aura of red
From the top of my head
Joins the journey away.
The mouth gives a welcome
And kisses the talcum tint from my lips.
With fleeting strength
I reach out to feel
Blending colors of cool and warmth.
Breaking the membrane
From body to body.
Oceanic views
Are hard to enjoy
From the deeper blues
That I now employ.
I'll leave a subtle trail
So that I may be found,
And tell my haphazard tale,
To the others here that have drowned.

I can appreciate this both as a tale of drowning and as a metaphor for losing yourself "body to body" in someone else.
