Feb 2022 political canada rally one-take
This is not a new song, just an updated version of the second song - I changed the chorus to be a better rally cry, I think!
We have witnessed
we have silently stood by
we have profited from
turning a blind eye
we took all this great abundance
there’s enough to go around
why do we keep some people down?
This bad idea
that some will win and some must lose
some will thrive and others fail
we all have to pay our dues
just to survive
This is a lie
to keep his pockets lined
above the graves of the babies who have died
Chorus:
So we march
together on stolen ground
so we march
in numbers and make a big sound
so we march
to end the struggle and the strife
so we march
for the right to live a sweet, full life
Where’s the clean water
for the children on reserves
too long they’ve gone without
while we sit back and observe
We failed to protect
the women and the girls
they disappear, it breaks a sister’s world
they disappear, it breaks a mother’s world
Chorus
house the homeless, feed the hungry
we’re a wealthy nation
people die in our streets
this is our shame, our abdication
there’s no need for suffering
pull the money from the hands
our power sings when we stick it to
the greedy man
so we are marching
we are marching again
we are marching
with our allies and our friends
Oh Canada,
march for who we could be
not my convoy
if only white folk can be free
not my convoy if only white folk can be free
Chorus
Now we begin to understand
we are all one
with the water and the land
the wind and the sun
we can honour this abundance
or watch it all burn down
hold my hand
we are marching now
Chorus

excellent! the changes in the chorus are really good and this is a fine fine protest song, would love to see this sung to a crowd of ten thousand and be a huge radio hit! :)

Poignant and timely. The laid back vocals and clear rhythm makes it feel grassroots and honest. Really like the changes on the chorus. Cool song, nicely produced!
