So i had the opening riff for yonks. I know i was chatting to a spanish chef in crete noodling on guitar, when i lost converstaion focus and hit record.
Song tags was difficult. It reminded me a bit of kula shaker/ 70s rock i think but lord knows. I hate trying to find genres in the tune.
I used my little indian tabla type drum at the start with tambourine, nylon acoustic and metal string with a layer of electric. Then it got out of control and rather big
i'd just been watching yet another documentary on the banking collapse (simply my current youtube fetish ;-) ) and saw a picture of Boris Johnson or BJ as he's known.
So it seemed approprate to write a song about my utter disdain for our current ruling class, especially the toff knob club that crawls its way continually out of Eton school and into power.
So its about my dream to see all that fall i suppose.
PS- See if you can spot my rather lazy lyrical nod to Paul Mac ;-)
PIC
Ha ha this is the most angry protesty type pic i got of me and my mate kirbs. I really don't know why i'm going for all old pics to represent my tunes this year. Who knows what i'll come across ;-)
Parliament bells
a lie to tell for you to read
you ain't got me
A school club of greed
We'll sneer down our toff nose at your needs
you don't want me
We have something more to bring
We're still here when your bell rings
Brandy chinks with more denying
fat cigars and all the lying
In this world there's no more hiding
you 1 percent will hear us crying proud
The power or truth is loud
So hear the collective now
The blackbird sings
its broken wings will make you fly
all night
Observe reality as it is
and coexist
They'll have more of love to bring
We are here so here us sing
Youn don't want it
but time won't stop it all
Falling

The vocals and instrumentals on this do really have a throwback vibe-really cool. Why isn't this on the radio??? (sadly I think ya boy is going to get off given the current state of the world....too bad. He clearly felt that he was subject to a different set of rules).
@guatecoop Mar 2022
Really cool progression to start it off! Wow, so cool. You were really on it this FAWM. The vocals hit just the perfect times and pitches. Yeah, you went OFF on the guitars and vocals. I do love the message here, as I am decidedly NOT with anything the 1% seeks to accomplish. I just love this one....Really well done.
@ofishell Feb 2022
Out for a walk, and this put one hell of a spring in my step. A wall of sound!! Also, I hope I don’t get run over as I type this (at least I’ve slowed down and am in a pedestrian-safe area lol).
@mikedebenham Feb 2022
Excellent dynamics here. We get the trademark Karl buildup twice in one song, so I'm well pleased. (But calling him BJ implies that he gives pleasure and satisfaction to someone.)
@davidtaro Feb 2022
Wowzers, you could have just stuck with the psychedelic vibe, delicate guitary goodness and I’d have been perfectly happy, but when you break out into the massive rock sections it absolutely blows the listener’s socks off. I do get that hint of Kula Shaker in the music and the way you deliver the vocal, but this is very much it’s own beast and all the better for it. Thoroughly impressive, sir!
@kovbleu Feb 2022
Freaking hell, Karl. This is so bad ass! Here, I was loving all the percussion and guitar and pretty melody and then you slammed us with the most gorgeous wave of sound!! I love it so much. Your harmonies are soooo good.
@sph Feb 2022
This is another fine song. I especially like your trade mark vocals
@natalie Feb 2022
Oh, yeah! You should tag this one "Classic Karl Deliciousness," 'cause it is yum, yum, yummy! I feel like the late '60s really missed out by not having you there. Their loss ~ our gain! P-Mac reference easily spotted, but was the simultaneous shout-out to Mr. Mister intentional, as well, or was that a subconscious choice? Fabulous song, and it's kind of fun to see your "bitter" side (especially since you being "bitter" is so uplifting).
@kiffa Feb 2022
Fantastic track, the harmonies in that chorus are just gorgeous and I really dig the quality of your voice in general. Great job!
@audrey Feb 2022
Yeah! This really rocks. Love the build-up to that very satisfying chorus. You had my head bopping. Love this.
@dugganensis Feb 2022
Very cool sounds in the first bits, but whoa, I love how the mix EXPLODES at the first chorus! I had to turn my volume down a notch! Not to mention the powerful performances captured here. How did you do that? LOL.
@xfloorpunchx Feb 2022
I can definitely hear the 60's vibes in that song, specially your arrangements ! I can really feel this old school atmosphere. Your work on the mix is incredible! Congratulations!
@mikeb Feb 2022
This song cooks when the whole 'band' comes in at 'Brandy chinks..."!
@fuzzy Feb 2022
Oh my gosh, what a super fantastic guitar riff here.
Yeah, a definite 60's vibe, which is really nice.
Lovely vocal effects.
Wow, really great work for sure.
@nadine Feb 2022
Wow, it turns into a oldschool rocknroll song around 1:18. This break is awesome. This song constantly gets better. You bring back the 60s!
@nicetrip Feb 2022
It rocks! Great quality song!
@ampersandman Feb 2022
What a great song! Just loving it, start to finish.
@wobbiewobbit Feb 2022
definitely get the kula shaker thing, also early pink floyd. this is class! wow the ahh's are great. this rocks all round. nice work!
@adforperu Feb 2022
What a beast of a track! The dynamics between your built up percussion and those gargantuan choruses is something else. That fleeting bridge is probably my favourite bit
@judypie Feb 2022
I was already getting Paul Mac vibes in the first verse before the black bird came in! :D
Awesome track dude, I think you’re being a bit harsh on BJ though!
SAID NO SELF RESPECTING PERSON EVER
@lanasolyluna Feb 2022
I agree that this totally sounds like a rock opera! Maybe you should make a rock opera about the banking collapse. F-ing brilliant tune as usual, makes me want to sing along.
@hamiltonpoolhall Feb 2022
“Then it got out of control and rather big.” So what else is new? :-) every year I ask myself how you can possibly assemble these epic production masterpieces, one after another, in the time it takes me to put down a one-mic guitar and vocal. This one is no less stupendous - that chorus is just massive in all the right ways, but I also dig all the subtle elements too; that intro/outro stuff is as tasty as the chorus is epic. So. Glad you’re FAWMing again this year!
@billwhite51 Feb 2022
sounds like the beginning of a rock opera. ,,do you remember when gary cherone played the lead in jesus christ superstar at the middle east?
@shortdan Feb 2022
Particularly digging the guitar sounds in that intro. Yes, there's definitely a strong psychedelic feel! Really strong melody and progression. Enjoyed this one! :)
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Lots of wonderfulness in this song - great full sound - I love the movement in the guitars and the drive into the chorus. Wonderful vocal delivery. Love the lyrical references and musical motifs.
@angelinapowersuit Feb 2022
Fantastic intro, definitely has a unique sound with your different percussive instruments. And dang blown away by the chorus and it feels like we've just taken off on a fantastical flight around the world. Aaaaaah (as in I'm flying :-) I don't understand your specific politics but I do understand the universal truth of all of it, expressed especially well in your chorus.
@bandybum Feb 2022
Lovely! Was expecting an 'angry' sounding track, but it's beautiful and twiddly and powerful too. Highly impressive!
Gotta go listen again now
@aprilm Feb 2022
This is awesome! I love that to got big!
@lowhum Feb 2022
The great explode, yeah! I can hear some coconuts and limes in between...
@marthie Feb 2022
Love the chord progression and layers in the music.
@woolford Feb 2022
I mean, I'm so intimidated by this that I don't know where to start with commenting. HOW DO YOU DO THAT?
Oh my goodness. Where's your next gig? I'm coming.
@corinnelucy Feb 2022
HOLY CRAP, this is incredible. This is the most alive song I've heard all day. I love your chords progressions and the harmonies, and that drummer knocked it out of the park
@thedutchwidows Feb 2022
Get the Kula Shaker vibe, but only in places. It gets real big, doesn’t it? It’s a cracking tune - I love the choruses.
‘BJ’ is not how we refer to Johnson in our house. There are generally a couple more letters.
