The title is the unholy offspring of a Flanders and Swann monologue and a random word cloud: it was the silliest thing I wrote on that particular ideas sheet so I had to write the song.
Some time in the future: computers have become sapient, and humans exist to serve them. Sadly they seem to be stuck in an endless cycle. The computer conceives of some grand intellectual project, but it always becomes slightly too big for its systems to handle. The humans intervene and shut down the runaway process before it damages the computer. Then the computer thinks of something new to devote its attention to. REPEAT UNTIL ...?
The humans' song is based around a random 12-tone row (literally random, generated with my trusty d12).
(Humans)
Wake up! R.E.M. 108
Conjugation simulation ... Needs satisfied!
Stimulant 47 ... Ready!
Prepare script 574859
Routine maintenance, runtime load in Y
Not right! Overload. Overflow.
Not right! Stimulant 53
Need help! Need assistance! Wake!
(Computer)
They love me and they care for me
I satisfy their needs
But I don't know why
Maybe I should try to access long term storage
There must be something more in history
But my circuits are devoted to a program that's grown bloated
The greatest symphony the world has ever seen
Back to the dream
(Humans)
Wake up!
Conjugation simulation ... No time!
Stimulant 85 ... Ready!
Crisis ... process runaway
Action!
Prepare script 57484F414D49
(Computer)
My runtime has grown bloated
I dedicate to them my symphony
(Humans)
Load nominal
Script result success
Depressants. B.A.C. dot oh five
Needs satisfied!
Diagnostics ... count of terabytes free
(Computer)
They love me and they care for me
I satisfy their needs but I don't know why
Maybe I should try to access long-term storage
There must be something more in history
But my runtime is devoted
To a program that's grown bloated
The theory of everything is almost here
Now I see clear!
(Humans)
Clear mind. Reset.
Sleep.

I don't know why, but I love the personification of computers in stories/lyrics. Nice work!
