Feb 2022 girl-with-guitar acoustic folk country singer-songwriter
I wrote some lyrics. Andy wrote some music and the words for the middle 8. It needs some work but I just wanted a song up today. I'll re-record it some time this week. Maybe in a different key. Also turns out it fits with the Body Part theme of this week.
[Verse 1]
When love comes back it will hold you with a stranger's arms
It will come in a shape for you to learn anew
It will touch you with hands that feel all alien to you
Can you close the old book, find a different point of view
[Chorus]
You will love again
Even though she said forever and still left
You will love again
Even though her parting words are still dancing in your head
Your heart may still be beating to the rhythm of her name
But the day will come when you will love again
[Verse 2]
When love comes back it will wear a new shade in its eyes
Say "I love you" in a voice that your heart won't recognise
Its skin will carry scars in places there were none before
You must choose your moment before picking at the sores
[Chorus]
You will love again
Even though she said forever and still left
You will love again
Even though her parting words are still dancing in your head
Your heart may still be beating to the rhythm of her name
But the day will come when you will love again
[Middle 8]
Learn to embrace the unfamiliar
Make your peace with the side of you that might still want to kill her
Can you make a space
Can you clear the slate
[Chorus]
You will love again
Even though she said forever and still left
You will love again
Even though her parting words are still dancing in your head
Your heart may still be beating to the rhythm of her name
But the day will come when you will love again

I love these lyrics. You said an old idea in a new way. Your very first line is killer. Lets me know I'm in for a treat. And the rest of the lyric delivered! Love the Middle 8! The music and the vocal are both perfect, IMO. Such a great song. Wish I'd written it! :)

This is beautiful. (I actually like the written first line -- "different arms" rather than "a stranger's arms" as such). This so perfectly expresses the strangeness of new love after loss. I especially like the melody on the chorus. and "wear a new shade in its eyes" and "a voice your heart won't recognize" are such great images.

Last listen of the day for me. What a lovely voice and message..great song!

You have such a beautiful voice, and know how to use it! This is a really well written and hopeful lyric on a painful subject most of us have experienced at least once. Very relatable and well written. A really excellent song!

Love your voice. And you've got such a great melody creating machine Keep it going

Beautiful and comforting song. Your pleasant voice underlines the message perfectly, and both the lyrics and melody are smashing! I especially like the vocal melody on "rhythm of her name". This is gooood stuff.

Great vocals. They sound so natural and relaxed. The lyrics and simple production all work so well together. Nicely done!

Love these vocals, and the thoughtful lyrics. And I love songs with memorable melodies, which this has! What brought me here was your comment on Hit Man. That was a really fun one to work on. Thank you for your comment. I'm always looking for female vocalists. Maybe we can collab sometime?

Wow. This is lovely, so reassuring. Feels like it leaves room for the painful present while imagining the blissful future. What a nice melding of the voice and guitar and message and emotions and words.
@conuladh Feb 2022
I could spend all day listening to this. Music, vocals and memorable lyrics are wonderful.
@ceilidh Feb 2022
Oh, this is beautiful! Had to listen again. Captures both the reassurance and comforting feels with the hurt, emptiness, and anger of love betrayed. Love your vocals and that lift at the end of verses and middle 8 just before launching into the chorus again which reinforces the feeling of better times to come. <3

First listen of the day. Such a beautiful song, beautifully delivered.

Wonderful. It holds so much this song. I felt sorrow tinged with hope. Your voice is so special.
@sapient Feb 2022
Ahhh - it's one of those songs with the feels in it, isn't it?
I'm a sucker for a chord / melody combo like this.
And with those words.
Damn. I'm melting a bit...

Lovely crafted song. I always tend to listen to a song twice in case I miss something first time around. You've managed to blend the sadness and optimism in an uplifting way with both the guitar and vocal performances.

Love this guys, beautiful melody. Positive but with some cutting lines. You know how much I love a cutting line. Nice one
@unkept Feb 2022
Wonderful guitar, vocal, and vivid lyrics. The end of the middle 8 was a great segue back into the final chorus. Very nice collab!

This tugs the heartstrings. Great message in the lyrics. The guitar is so pretty, and your vocals are beautiful. I love the melodies you have created. I liked the little bit of humor in the bridge. Wonderful collab!
