Feb 2022 ukulele
This is a no frills thingy. Teaching this year has really killed my voice. I'm doing full days in a large cafeteria with a mask on, industrial blowers in the ceiling going full force, and teachers/staff having (unintentionally) loud distracting conversations in the back. I'm supposed to do a 2 month weekend show in May and June and I don't know how I'll cope with both. Sigh. Anyway, random thoughts on a sleepy morning.
*post script. Yes I know I should do something about the situation. I have a mic. I don't like using it because the way the speakers are set up and the acoustics of the building, I can't hear how loud I am and sometimes the kids don't tell me. Last time I used it they could hear me all the way in the main office. What I really need is to talk less often, but we're at the point in the year where the kids are antsy and behavior is an issue, so I find myself struggling with that. I'll figure it out eventually.
On and on and on
On and on and on
Float like a ray of sun
Riding the waves
Th siren sings its song
Like moth to flame I'm drawn
On currents of salt sea air
Bewitched and amazed
Effervescent thoughts like froth on the sea
Like riptides pull deep into mystery
Nightmares all have gone
Banished with the dawn
Dream lie a way of sun
Riding the waves

This was really lovely :). I'm always a sucker for some music about the ocean.

The song is fun! I enjoyed your choice of instrumentation. As others have said, it really adds to the whimsy.
It sounds like you need a mic at work. Even if you could only use it while in one spot, it would at least allow your voice to rest some of the time.
I mean, otherwise, it is typical for folks to seek other employment when their workplace threatens to cause them injury...

You deserve much praise for continuing to teach in those circumstances.
The little bells (did you use a keyboard or a xylophone?) add a nice touch, and I wanted the song to continue!
You might want to seek out a vocal coach who can help you deal with the loud speaking you need to do while preserving your singing/

I adore the whimsical feeling elicited by the bells and uke! A lovely lullaby to banish the nightmares - nicely done!
