Feb 2022 politics sorry-about-that 80s-production lots-of-layers prog progressive-rock
There's a video doing the rounds of our Prime Minister explaining that when he's in danger of coming under damaging scrutiny for things he's done, he just says something unaccountably crass or stupid, because he knows the media will focus on that instead of holding him to account for his actions. The strategy is known by those familiar with the approach as the "Dead Cat Gambit."
So whenever he plays the buffoon, pay *very* close attention to the other stories in the news at the same time, because it's a cynical and manipulative act by someone who knows exactly what he's doing...
The more gaffes that he makes
The more you know he's worried
But with his career at stake
his exit won't be hurried
Hair and prospects ruffled, grimly hanging on
Knows full well that the entire nation wants him gone
Can't believe he thinks his actions
still deserve to be commended
Never paid attention to the maxim,
"Least said, soonest mended"
As the flames rise higher,
he just pretends to look offended
But everything that happens here
takes place precisely as intended
Train wreck after train wreck
Always someone else's fault
Got to save his own neck
he's an underhand old salt
When they catch him out, he simply grimaces and frowns
Relies on making pensioners believe he's just a clown
Always has a stooge on hand who's prepared to take a rocket
Knows the law won't touch him 'cos he's got it in his pocket
Venal and unthinking
He'd let the country burn
But the rats know that he's sinking
The tide's begun to turn
So, who will grab him by the throat and talk to him like so:
"Boris, for the love of God just pack your bags, and go!"?

Brilliant wordplay and ominous vocal, and of course reminds me of our former guy.
It's the whole-package production here that just blows me away - I could listen to a vocal-less version and it would still be an incredible piece of song art.
@ryako Mar 2022
I love that you're writing songs about this trash human being. This is, like, the most British, pass-agg thing ever. Also, yes, he's an utter shithead, but I like that you express that without cursing.

"Never paid attention to the maxim,
"Least said, soonest mended""
You should be on his team! Musically fascinating, as you say it sounds like a Soundtrack from a James Bond movie.
Seen from a distance it is like 52% of the UK has committed mass hari-kari, but no one has buried them yet. There are Empire nostalgic zombies throughout the land. VOMIT SMILEY needed here.
@janeg Feb 2022
Wonderful music about a despicable. I will read about his gaffes through your lens from now on.
@loveonamixtape Feb 2022
Love the dark edge to this and the richly layered production, and that mellow, driving drum beat, especially in the pre-chorus, that great bass line and the way the arrangement fills out during the chorus. Another great set of lyrics here. The "hair and prospects ruffled" line is especially great.
@tomslatter Feb 2022
Nice groove to this. I did enjoy it, some very nice layers in there, but also it's about Johnson, so I am both enjoying the music and feeling angrier and angrier.
I mean, why? Why is he still in the job, the pointless, vile, self-deluded, destructive piece of... *angry political rant deleted for space*
@aeye Feb 2022
sounds like our last guy. I love a good political prog rock song. This has a lot of Alan Parsons Project vibes to it. (one of my absolute favorite bands)
@heliosonorous Feb 2022
This one has a nice edge to it in your delivery and I like the 80's vibe in it as well!
@nagavaeoe Feb 2022
This is intense musically and lyrically. I kinda dig the 80's chorus bass. Great playing. And the guitar work is so solid and tasteful.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
Yeah what Sapient said! Regrettably there will ALWAYS be people like this. Nice throwback to the 80s with your sound! Suitably miserable…
@sapient Feb 2022
A wonderful song about an appalling person.
It's so nice to be able to get the frustration out thorugh the power of song.
On the one hand I wonder what we'd do for inspiration without people like this, and yet on the other I do wish that the UK could have politics as dull as we have it over here ....
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
A trick being used everywhere! Not as extreme but our idiot does it as well. Deflection . Nice piece of music to help drive a good social message! Keep your eye on the ball, still the best advice i was given. !
@andyt13 Feb 2022
Nice! Hate that Wanker. Not as bad as Orange Jesus here but still pretty bad. Good time. Vibes a bit Peter Hamill?
@cloudhopper Feb 2022
well done, good social commentary
and it is more about just having some cake on Downing Street
@wolveerie Feb 2022
Your voice is giving me some major Bowie vibes! loving the counter melodies between the bass and guitar. Great job :)
