Theme: Slay
Could be from laughter, slaying a demon, or any other type of slayage you'd like to address. Have fun!
We've been doing a series rewatch of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I've watched the series many times but it took a few times before I really warmed up to the character of Buffy (it was always about the other characters for me) but mow I'm all in. This is a poor kid put in an impossible situation that ultimately she has to deal with and handle herself though she does get plenty of help from her friends.
Spoiler alert for an over 20 year of show, last last episodes of the first season has a prophecy that states the Slayer is to be killed by the Master. Buffy looks to quit being a Slayer but that's not an option because she has a sacred duty. The goes, fights the Master, he sucks her blood, drops her in a puddle to drown, she dies but Xander shoes up, gives her mouth to mouth and she lives. So she saves the world but her friend saves her.
I'm playing my guitalele, really trying to mix it up this year so the chords are relative to the 5th fret.
Verse: G C
PC: am em end on C
Chorus: D am D C
Verse:
The chosen on
That must be a wrong
She's not weak
but she doesn't feel strong
So much
Unexplained
If she tried
They'd think she's insane
Pre-Chorus
The prophecy
Must be a lie
It says the slayer's
Destined to die
Chorus
But she doesn't
Believe
It's for too early
To grieve
This isn't her end
The prophecy didn't
Count on her friends
Verse:
She knows
This is the only shot
And she has to give
It all she's got
She arms up
In her dress
Holy water, stakes, a crossbow
She gives it her best
Pre-Chorus
The prophecy
Must be a lie
It says the slayer's
Destined to die
Chorus
But she doesn't
Believe
It's for too early
To grieve
This isn't her end
The prophecy didn't
Count on her friends

"The profecies lie" is typically the kind of wisdom you can find in "Buffy the vampire slayer" show. You never expected it but if you give it a thought it start to make sens.
I totally can relate to your "sidekicks are the best" feeling. Their parts are so well written in that show. And they often get to save the world (a lot) in their own way.
But I think you found the key to the slayer's's caracter. She didn't choose any of her fate but she chooses to live up to it.
Guitalele give your song an light ironic anti-heroïc touch that fits the lyrics : telling a story, it sounds almost like a ballad, but it turns out it's not a tragedy and fate is not known from the begining.
Nice work ! And it made me want to rewatch the 7 seasons.

Excellent choice of focus within the series. Good to be reminded of the difficult position she is in. Willow and Giles fan myself, sometimes Spike.

Dang! I had to skip over your "spoiler", because I haven't ever gotten around to watching "Buffy" yet. (Shame on me). I DID just put the latest Korean zombie series on my Netflix list--I know you and I share in interest in...monsters.
Great vocal (as always) on this. These skirmishes to inspire a lot of interesting stuff that would not have otherwise gotten done.
Really great job on this!

Woah! A Buffy song!
The chord choices in this are perfect, creating just the kind of feeling you need for a moment in show like that.
I was never the biggest fan of Buffy as a character either, but you really put us all smack in her place with these words and it's give me all the feels...

Nice groove....some interesting lyrics as well... David

Oh, such a lovely emotional filk song! BtVS is a formative influence of mine. Gods, way to make me feel emotions about 16 year old Buffy Summers facing down the Master and her Scooby gang. Sincerely, great emotional tone, excellent choice of lyrics, and the guitarlele really supports your vocals.

Buffy TVS was a fab series. Was sorry to see it end. This is a great ballad for a great heroine.

I’ve watched the Buffy series all the way through only one time. I did watch the movie. It was loads of fun. I think writing songs based on movies and TV is a great way to get inspired. I’ve done that a few times and was always pleased with the outcome, as you should be here. This definitely sums up that bit of the show and makes a great piece of art for any Buffy fan. The Guitalele sounds great as does your vocal. Good job with this.

Love your vocals - very Bonnie Raitt. Don't know a thing about BTVS, but your lyrics could apply in a lot of places and are very relatable. Love the guitalele.

Am loving your vocals - as always. What is underneath?? I can hear it but cannot place it. The lyrics really sum up what I remember of Buffy
Never was a big Buffy (TV series) fan but I loved the movie when it came out... showing my age.

I have never ever seen Buffy … but love this song nevertheless and find deeper meaning in it. Love your delivery on this. Your vocals are absolutely beautiful and the driving guitar is perfectly paired.

Apologies, Buffy was a cultural phenomenon that kind of passed me by. But this feels like a really cool tribute piece to that last episode. I really love the sound on the vocal - it's just the right amount of reverb to sound natural but coloured, and your singing is brilliant :)

I haven't watched Buffy, but it's a great idea to dedicate a song to a series. The chords on the guitarlele (?) are very soothing. Such a nice listen!

Anything Buffy the Vampire Slayer related I am into including your song, which sounds great. I'm hearing there will be a Buffy re-boot at some point in the future if not already. Miss that show! Enjoyed your tune!
