First half of the complete 10min song.
Taking the Thom Yorke stream of consciousness method of lyric writing here. Put down whatever pops in your head, whether it makes sense or not. :O)
The structure is a bit disjointed which make is feel long and repetitive. In the spirit of FAWM, press on!
Is it wrong look ahead
When the nows in need instead
Is it symmetry or greed
In a state I thought I am
In a word I'm in a jam
It's impossible to know
Driving on the overpass at night
Where the stars are very bright
It's inhuman to ignore the moonshine
Without aim to carry on
Have to be there before dawn
In the distance I can see the skyline
(future 2nd verse)

Great use of odd time here. Doesn't feel odd as in disjointed the way odd times sometimes can. The switch back and forth just serves to drives the chorus forward, giving it this sense of propulsion. In conjunction with the open major chords and jumps in counter melody, it's a satistying sense of pull/push, and then seems to pause at the end..on to part 2!

Wow, I started to listen and meanwhile started googling this writing method you mention. Suddenly I realized that I‘m still listening to a fawm song. It was as if I had something playing that I regularly listen to. Great!! And so inspiring! Also, not too long IMO but I’m also accustomed to listen to 10 min songs.

This is great! Liked everything about this and is something that would make its way into a regular playlist. Good build through and after the solo.

I'm a life-long prog fan, and this checks all the boxes for me. Nice job!
@headfirstonly Feb 2022
Long? C'mon, any prog track that comes in at under seven minutes is barely getting started... Getting a vibe that's a cross between Genesis and Porcupine Tree from this one, and that is not an easy thing to pull off as convincingly as you do here.
Doesn't feel disjointed to me at all. Damn, this is the Good Stuff.

Haven't heard about the stream of consciouness method yet. But I love the atmosphere, the instrumentation. Just on the right side between complex and catchy. At first I thought that 5 minutes would be a bit too long, but you changed the vocal harmony and it works so well!

Cool chords! I like how they juxtapose against the vocals! The chorus has a very disconnected feeling to it which I like!

Whatever method you are using it’s working. Maybe just a bit long at 5.23 but very easy listening and great chord changes.
