Feb 2022 folk singer-songwriter ss020522i skirmish superskirmish emergency
Insomnia -> late to the skirmish -> a song in 25 minutes -> WIN!
You didn't plan ahead
And now you want me to save you
But I don't understand how your lack off planning
Constitutes an emergency
You forgot to stop by the store
And now the blizzard is almost here
I don't understand your lack of toilet paper
Or what it's got to do with me
Do you think you could plan ahead a little bit
Or maybe do something for your self?
(I guess not)
You're not my favorite neighbor
And no, I don't want to water your plants
I don't care that you're gonna be away for two weeks
No, that's not an emergency
And no, I don't have an extra gas can
And I can't give you a ride to your car
I don't care you had to walk three miles
Please don't bother me
Do you think you could plan ahead a little bit
Or maybe do something for your self?
(I guess not)
You didn't plan ahead
And now you want me to save you
But I don't understand how your lack of planning
Constitutes and emergency.

Win indeed! The singer character here is so cool. I can so relate to the dynamic here, and also see how the stressed out neighour might get even more tense because of the relaxedness of the other! A very sharp-eyed take on a familiar situation, and in 25 mins, it's amazing! Congrats!

I love the ideas in the lyrics and the phrasings and the guitar-picking, and don't I know that feeling so well? thanks, TC.

This song flows very well. The "guess not" additions are a nice addition.

Sung like a true junior high school teacher as this is one of the most basic messages they continuously impart to students. But sung very kindly, not with the "get off my lawn" angry energy that usually develops over the years of repeated messaging.

Oh I totally empathise with the narrator here! When someone sends me an email with the subject "URGENT" my first reaction is usually "I bet it isn't". You've captured that feeling perfectly.

A good take on the theme! Also a great job for a 25 minute song.

Had to laugh, such a funny story. Yet the singer is aggravated. And the music/melody is of a happier, lighter nature. I love that contrast. I like the longer title too. And I can get bent occasionally over what someone else may perceive of as an “emergency.”

Haha I can relate to some of these. Planning ahead isnt always my strong suit. I got a chuckle out of some of these. especially the blizzard lines. That seems to happen a lot here.

I'm sure lots of people would resonate. Here where I am we're not even neighbourly enough to say hello most of the time, let alone be doing favours for each other. On the other hand, having just been diagnosed with ADHD I feel possibly empathy for your neighbour,(not what was intended obviously !!) perhaps they literally aren't able to plan ahead.
I loved living in a society (Oman) where everyone did everything on the spur of the moment. I fitted right in!!
Sorry. got carried away. Very sound song.. Very listenable

Holy moly must be the middle of the night!
I totally agree with the sentiment of this song. Great skirmishing TC!
PS the guitar tone and picking is LUSH.

This is a smashing song evoking that feeling we get when we think we're being taken for granted or even used.
Loved he intro and the solo break too.
I always admire people who write songs that don't use rhyme, I just can't do that.
