HI FRIEND
This is the first time I've ever used Garage Band - so please pardon the fact that I don't know how to delete mouth sounds - I know it's unbecoming! If you know a great tutorial send it my way!
I sat in my car to record some vox in silence and it's 2 degrees outside, so THAT is cute.
Other facts about this song.... ummmm I've been trying to get a recording of it for 4 days now, so I guess you could say I'm ready to move on.
If you have any light percussive ideas for me, feel free to bestow. I don't think I want something too heavy for it, but also the bridge needs a little something something. Throw me your thoughts.
When the others are gone
Does it matter where I'm from?
Give me what you promised to me
I'll be waiting patiently
And I'll
Get unlost
I'll get unlost again
And I'll
Get unlost
Get unlost again
You have got my undivided attention
Just overlook my subconscious apprehension
It's been a minute since I've shined a light on my soul
But everything in here is something that I want you to know
So I can
Get unlost
Get unlost again
I can
Get unlost
Get unlost again
So I can
Get unlost
Get unlost again
Oh I can
Get unlost
Get unlost again
Tape me up, reshape me
I'm as tattered as a paper doll
I want to be whole after all
Take a brush and paint my story
I'm a canvas waiting and I
Want to be completed after all
I can get unlost
Get unlost again
Yeah can I
Get unlost
Get unlost again
Mmmmm....

Oooof. This hit me. Damn. This is good. Again. Love your voice. The tone. The way you undersing. Get back recording in the car in minus 2 would be my advice as a producer :-)

Wowsers. That's beautiful. Erm, I've been messing about in garage band and churning out pure rubbish! This is so beautiful, polished and sounds great. Gorgeous voice, lyrics and piano. Wow. Simply beautiful!
@xfloorpunchx Feb 2022
Great use of Garageband for a first track! I love the simplicity and the atmosphere here. Your voice is lovely! Congrats.
@tukayandryan Feb 2022
Wow this is gorgeous. The stripped back nature of it lets the vocal soar. Beautiful harmonies. I love your voice.
@majordanby Feb 2022
This song and delivery is just beautiful. I’m a big fan of the stripped back sound in general, so this is perfect for me. It shows what a great song is. The melody for the “ It's been a minute since I've shined a light on my soul” really lifts everything.
@drewhottmann Feb 2022
Really love this! The raw simplicity with those great harmonies is just lovely. Your voice sounds so great across your range, but those low alto notes really stand out and set you apart.
I could hear a kit played with brushes, or a simple lo-fi electronic beat working well, but I don’t think it needs it.
@nuchoyce Feb 2022
She's back!!!! I love this opener. I can hear a light Lo-fi percussion drum beat on this later in the song. If you didn't say it was your first time using GB I would not have known. I actually start all of my songs in Garage Band and then move to Logic X to export. You may want to subscribe to this channel for GarageBand tutorials. Amazing melodies and harmonies, I'm stirred and in awe everyone needs to hear this. Cannot express how moved I am.
On your technical question, I didn't notice any offensive mouth sounds but the iZotope RX suite has a mouth-declick plugin which works wonders without too much hassle.

Starting the petition to get you to cover @mikedebenham's 'Get Lost' and for him to cover this. It'd be neat!
This is a beautiful song, lovely soft piano playing and the vocal melody is superb, emotional delivery too.
@metalfoot Feb 2022
Oh goodness it is a TREAT to hear you again, Leah. Love this. Just beautiful. Even if you don't like the vocal tone it really works for this song quite well.
(maybe some sort of snare roll or tympanic thing on the bridge?)
@thelowestbitter Feb 2022
amazing vocal, love the sparseness of this, just the piano and vocals really lets your voice shine, and there’s some fantastic harmony work here. Really enjoyed this
@circle Feb 2022
i don't think anyone would have noticed the mouth sounds if you hadn't mentioned them. that's my tip
the vocals sound wonderful - so much depth and feeling in the harmonies. amazing that you recorded them in your car, they really sound brilliant. the piano is also lovely and the spare arrangement gives the perfect amount of room for your singing
@alyxanderjames Feb 2022
The sparseness of this is gorgeous - the harmonies are so rich!
@bradbrubaker Feb 2022
The direction of the otherwise delicate crumbling vocals on the "It's been a minute" line was a pleasant surprise adding a sense of what the speaker was like before they were lost.
@adforperu Feb 2022
Love this. It's so simple like an Adele song or something, where your vocal is just - there - nowhere to hide and it absolutely carries the song. Gosh, that bridge is stunning!
@aeye Feb 2022
If you need some ideas for percussion / other instruments I’m all for assisting. Glad to see you posting some new stuff to fawm. This sounds really good!
@gardeningangel1 Feb 2022
Gorgeous. The image of you recording vocals in your car ads to the solitary intimacy of the song. Like piecing oneself back together after a relationship or maybe just the world in general has picked you apart. Rich and complete on its own, but if you wanted to build it up I can imagine just the sparest of gently brushed drums on the bridge, deep bass boom with tons of reverb. Maybe some long drawn-out cello notes there, too. And that all backs off to bring it back to just your voice and the keys.
@shadowgauge Feb 2022
It's pretty. great lyrics!!!
@bunter Feb 2022
Tender lyrics that reveal your fragility. The song works just fine as it is. There's a lovely ebb and flow from the simple piano chords and your sweet, emotive vocals. Izotope RX8 or Melodyne (there is a free version) would do the trick removing unwanted vocal noises.
@elainedimasi Feb 2022
Breathy and sinewy at the same time. What delicately chosen vocal lines you're doing here. Like this song, I am very much in a tattered paper doll mood (I had paper doll scribbled in my notes this season to use somewhere!).
What if your percussive addition to the bridge was footsteps, echoing in the room, ambiguous whether entering or leaving?
@jacobeverettwallace Feb 2022
Leah! I missed hearing your amazing vocals. Your sense of melody is absolutely divine. Love that hook. Instead of percussion I kinda heard like a sort of driving notes on a felted piano with tons of reverb on it that could give that lift in the background you're looking for, and then let it fade out. Hit up the Spitfire LABS, they have tons of them for free. This is gorgeous though. I love the stark nature of it actually. The extra breathiness in your voice on this one lends well to it. Great job!
@vegansongs Feb 2022
Leah. This is so beautiful. Goosebumps, spine tingling good. I adore your vocals and phrasing. I think your found.
