A bit of nonsense inspired by a new article about the recent spate of "well dressed and distressed" women on the covers of novels these days
Well dressed and distressed
Not easily impressed
That's how she seemed to me
I was out of my league
But still I had to believe
That she would notice me
So I smiled and I said
The first thing into my head
Have I seen you before?
You know you look so familiar
You must get that a lot
What with you looking so hot
And she almost smiled
So I kept right on in
I told her I had escaped
From the travelling circus
At which she just shook her head
Like she'd heard it before
I said it's true and her eyebrow was raised
Prepare to be amazed
And then I flipped down and walked on my hands
And things looked different
As far as I could see
She was smiling at me
Well dressed and distressed
And now almost impressed

I like your voice. It's "lazy", but still you hit the right notes. Lovely rhymes too.

I don't know that I have any useful criticism for this, but I really enjoyed it. The kind of playful lyrics mixed with the downtempo song make it almost depressing, but in a good way.
