Belated comment on groundhog strangeness, with a ukulele because it was written 2 Feb 2022 which, as all the world knows, is World ukulele day.
Flying Tadpole in control. Sigh. But if I don't let FT loose from time to time, I seem to get these terrible headaches.

I DON'T GET GROUNDHOG DAY
Words & Music Copyright © 2022 TJ Fatchen All Rights Reserved APRA-AMCOS
There's a strange thing on the other side of the world,
They call it Groundhog Day
And they're jumping at the shadows all the time
The ground hog comes out to play
Well , this I don't get. and it doesn't seem right
That some hog and its shadows might give them a fright--
You see, all our hogs are grounded, there's no pigs in flight,
So I don't get Groundhog Day.
Perhaps I'm confused by the terms they use:
Ground hog, ground beef, well...what the hey!
Perhaps the shadow turning is the ground pork patties burning?
But why have just one special day?
Well, I still don't get it and it seems quite crazy
(Though a ground pork pattie, it can be quite tasty!)
Perhaps whoever ground that hog was sheer bone lazy
To end up with just one Ground Hog Day.

Good to see and hear you!
Delightful song - giving a second listen now. This kind of song is what the uke/vocal combo was made for!
Most Feb 2s, I totally forget it's Groundhog Day.
@jaegerin Mar 2022
Ha! So glad to have found this! It’s loads of fun and as someone from another non-Groundhog-Day-celebrating country, I join you in being a bit baffled :-)
@berni1954 Feb 2022
That was fun and it was great to put a face to the voice at last.
@johnpeekstok Feb 2022
It's exactly six weeks after the Solstice, so August the 3rd in your upside-down world. You could start a new tradition! Don't you have any large fuzzy rodents that hibernate in holes in the ground? We could send you some if you like . . .
@ponygal1961 Feb 2022
Lol. Love this! We'll (obviously) celebrate anything in the States.
@scubed Feb 2022
I laughed out loud all the way through!! What a treat to hear Flying Tadpole’s commentary on our peculiar celebration. With a nod to George Bernard Shaw (or Oscar Wilde or Winston Churchill - who knows?), the English-speaking nations do find themselves divided by their common language from time to time.
@musicsongwriter Feb 2022
Lovely song Tim and so nice to hear you playing uke. Super cute song. Funny announcement in the end :)
@mikeskliar Feb 2022
Ha!!! Nice one—- ground control to Major Tim, the whole thing never made sense to me either!
@tunecat Feb 2022
Lol! Love seeing my fellow songwriters on here. And uke and voice is so apoealing. Great song
@hamiltonpoolhall Feb 2022
“No pigs in flight” - love it! Thanks for taking February 2nd down a peg - and via ukulele, no less!
@katestantonsings Feb 2022
Hahaha THIS is so cute. Punxsutawney Phil approves!
@darcistrutt Feb 2022
I'm laughing... Yes, it is a strange custom! Moving from groundhog to ground pork was quite natural now that you sing it that way. Thanks for joining in the groundhog/ukulele challenge! I enjoyed watching you as well as listening!
@monty Feb 2022
Always enjoy some Flying Tadpole humour. It's become an annual tradition for me.
@jtsteam Feb 2022
This is fun! I like your version of ground hog day better.
@readwrite Feb 2022
A really nicely put together song for some wonderfully off the wall lyrics!
@williamjames Feb 2022
Cool little song, with quite tongue in cheek lyrics! I liked it, Go ground pork patties!
@audrey Feb 2022
Cute little melody and what a fun song! Ha ha ha. I enjoyed this.
@blindkiwi Feb 2022
Ground hog and ground beef? No common ground to be had there but absolutely delicious never the less :) Love the uke FT!
@cblack Feb 2022
Ha! Loved it! Very funny, quality uke playing... And the lyrics really suited your voice. Nice one!
