Feb 2022 ss020422e skirmish cleaning metal
***WARNING****
If you think this is my normal bardic, lyrical production, you're in for a shock
***END WARNING***
For anyone who knows me, this is as out of the box as I have ever tried. I got caught on the skirmish thinking about how people have been dumping on others and I decided to see if I could channel a screaming metalhead.
It's an attempt at getting out of my bardic ways. Don't worry, I'm heading back to my safe space.

Dump The Trash
2022-02-04
They came with their trash disguised as an opinion
Didn’t fool most of us, but it got them some minions
Spreading lies dressed up as truth, and casting a certain smell
They were set to seed the world with their own version of hell
We’re now faced with fighting a fight that we didn’t need
We have so many problems, yet they’re making us all bleed
Making paper dragons and blaming it on us
Posing as the purest, yet they are full of pus
Chorus
For those that dump their trash on us
We need to return the call
If you crap on us, we’ll fling it back
And show you that you’re small
They want to overwhelm us, and force virtue to fall
Thinking that the time is now for Armaggedon’s Call
They race around like insects, and we know where they like to hide
We must believe the truth is the best insecticide
Chorus
For those that dump their trash on us
We need to return the call
If you crap on us, we’ll fling it back
And show you that you’re small

What a surprise! A lot of my favorite songs this year have been the ones where people do a complete 180 from what you're expecting! Can't wait to see you out on tour with Ministry. :D
@andygetch Mar 2022
WTG with experimentation and going waaaaay out of a comfort zone! Every time I do that I learn something. Well done on the skirmish!
@tukayandryan Mar 2022
I love the risks you are taking, especially in a skirmish! Love the protest nature of this. Wonder if you will go full death metal next year...#tit4tat
@nadine Feb 2022
I didn't expect this gritty vocals. Yes it'd as far as you can get from your bard vocals lol. Listen go more Skinny Puppy.
@johnpeekstok Feb 2022
What are boxes for except to be broken out of?
@bethdesombre Feb 2022
Preach it! (This definitely shows music range!). And impressive skirmish result. I like "making paper dragons and blaming it on us."
@jorh Feb 2022
Some great lines in here but I especially like this one “They were set to seed the world with their own version of hell”. Really like the urgency of the backing track, mixed with the measured creepy vocal delivery
@headfirstonly Feb 2022
Getting distinct KMFDM vibes from this one, Ken. Where did this one come from? That riff is hypnotic...
Hooray for stepping out of the box!
@mikeb Feb 2022
Stepping out of one's comfort zone is always a mind expander!
A real thrash metal protest song!
@aeye Feb 2022
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA this is a wild change for you. But it's good to experiments. Wild lyrics hahaha. Push those faders!
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
well played - great envelope pushing as we talked about! its a really good song with a good message got a few touches of different genres. You voice training even comes across in this with clear pronunciation and timing! It is really good but out of your zone makes it amazingly good bravo
@berni1954 Feb 2022
Brilliant opening couplet and a perfect last line in the final verse.
Thank goodness there are still people like you around in the expanding insanity that seems to have gripped the USA.
@analogj Feb 2022
Uh...well this is an earworm, isn't it. The good thing about worms is that they help break down crap, right?
@cts Feb 2022
So check it out - I'm seriously going to fling, not trash, but kudos to you for stepping outside of the box boundary lines. It's got the edge. It's got vivid gore (the word pus always makes me cringe no matter the context) and a slick arrangement...but man - what's up with that abrupt ending? *big smile*
@ofishell Feb 2022
This was the last of your songs that I listened to right in a row, and I started playing it before reading your liner notes...my first thought was "this is certainly going in a different direction than what I expected!" I am so impressed, as this far out of my songwriting styles is really difficult for me to achieve, and I am so glad that you did it. Excellent lyrics and delivery.
@katestantonsings Feb 2022
Industrial Punk Ken!! These lyrics are sick!
@leslie333 Feb 2022
Oh boy! 'Another side of' - and now back to Swedish lullabies!! This is awesome. Great lyrics.
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
Wow. This is PUNK as #@@$&! So many great lines.
@elesimo Feb 2022
Ken, this is SO good and unexpected — I'm happy to take any blame for this! Good job on the production, it works really well, and the lyrics are fantastic ("If you crap on us, we’ll fling it back")!
@eas3637 Feb 2022
WHAAAAAT? Ken, this is amazing! I don't even know how you did this but I loved it. Your delivery of the lyrics is spot on.
@mckillop Feb 2022
Sounds like the Beast is inhabiting your vocal!
Nicely done, great imagery.
Anger sure does inspire sometimes!
@emplate Feb 2022
Nicely done! I dig the chugging and ominous feel of the verse. I also like it how this whole track has that non-stop, forth-driving atmosphere.
@davidtaro Feb 2022
Yes, Ken!! Pushing the envelope. A lot. Well played. For this style I’d say you could get away with even more distortion on the vocal. If you have a plug-in with a mix/blend option (or route the vocal out to another channel, apply distortion there and mix it back in to taste), then you can really smash the hell out of it, and then blend it back with the clean vocal… that can give you quite a heavy distortion without losing the clarity of the words. If that makes any sense! Apologies if it doesn’t. Really enjoyed my listen, thanks!
@wylddandelyon Feb 2022
Truth is the best insecticide, yes! Nice imagery, nice carry through between the "show you that you're small" and the insecticide line too.
@theodamus Feb 2022
"Making paper dragons and blaming it on us" is such a good line i love it. Cool choice to get outside of your comfort zone - your growly vocals work really well! Awesome dynamic layer build in the background, really builds tension and intensity. Great skirmish!
@jlampson Feb 2022
Branching out and trying new things in FAWM is so liberating. I'm so glad you were able to do it. This reminds me of a song Megadeth's Dave Mustaine would have written in an alternate timeline. Keep pushing yourself!
@erbaer Feb 2022
Really got a lot going on here. I like the busy background churning away behind the vocals.
@dzdandcunfsd Feb 2022
Good, Gooooood :D
Yup, I've only heard you play the uke and sing(very nicely I might add) so this shocked me. I pushed play before I read the liner notes, and had to make sure I was on the right persons page LOL.
Sounds really good! I really like the write as well.
Most of the hard core metal heads I've ever met in my life are usually the nicest people ;O)
@mikeskliar Feb 2022
wow- way to go in 'getting out of your usual sound' ! 'another side of ken'! Love this! and the lyric has line after line that is just killer stuff! great job!! amazing what fawm can do to get one to try different things, and have it work!
@mikehex Feb 2022
Welcome to the dark side! I like the new direction
The rhythmic figure in the chorus is really cool
@jodv Feb 2022
Man, that destroyed guitar is doooooooope
@liz561 Feb 2022
I cannot believe this is you Ken!!! Amazing!
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Wow! This was a surprise performance from you! I love those sinister growly vocals and the angry lyrics on that driving buzzy beat! Your metal side emerges to wild applause from me! Love the lyric!
@vivalarayna Feb 2022
Ken!!! Is this really you???? Clearly TNMC has had an influence on you and I'm 100% here for it!!! Who knew a bardic lyrical influence would be so effective for metal?? You've got a lot of gems in here.. Love the "We must believe the truth is the best insecticide" line.
@metalfoot Feb 2022
Very edgy for sure. Strong social commentary!
@nateger Feb 2022
Haha I love that distorted noise! You caught my ear from the first grimy second. Fun to hear you growl/sing! I can tell you have fun with this one. Great prompt idea!
