you are not alone
NOT ALONE
by Greg Klyma
Everything's so big
Can't be carried all alone
And though alone is how you feel
You are not alone
You are not alone
Go ahead, say it with me
You are not alone
Not alone, not alone
It's hard to break a habit
It's hard to ask for help
And life can be confusing
You may be all by yourself, but
You are not alone
Go ahead, say it with me
You are not alone
Not alone, not alone
Dark thoughts
Dead of winter
That's when darkness
Comes on strong
Dark thoughts
And other symptoms
Triggering anxiety
Everything is wrong
And everything's so heavy
Can't be carried by yourself
Whenever you are ready
Go ahead and ask for help
You are not alone
Go ahead, say it with me
You are not alone
Not alone, not alone
You are not alone
Go ahead, say it with me
You are not alone
Not alone, not alone
Everything's so big
Everything's so big

Also: thank you for the message at the end of the video. I'm also in my second FAWM and having many of the same feelings of overwhelm that you mentioned! Reassuring to know that I'm not alone. :)

This is a great example of a song where its simplicity is its strength. I love how much you have packed into these short lines; I also loved how the rhythmic scan of the "dark thoughts" section changes up from the rest of the verses. Thank you for sharing this!

Yes, I agree. We have to keep this in mind during hatd times which happen in every life.
Again a fine song!

Nice write! The repetitions and call-respone form work well for this message-oriented song. Stripping back the accompaniment to just the sparse tenor banjo removes stuff which might be a distraction.

Sounds great, your strong voice and simple accompaniment.
Great message too, we're never really alone. We don't have to be alone. I understand the overwhelmed feeling, though I'm doing pretty OK this winter!
Thanks for the talk after the song -- You don't have to write 14. Write 3. Or 7. Whatever's working for you. And thanks for putting this out there.
