Feb 2022 blues rock new-guitar fuzz
Helen: I got a new guitar. It's the kind of guitar one should play some blues on. I will mostly play punk on it, but Nancy and I decided to write a blues track. I'm playing drums, and guitar. Nancy is paying piano, bass, singing and write lyrics.
When I was a fetus, the doctors gathered round
They’d never heard nothing like my ultrasound
It was A/C, it was D/C., and it was Iron Maiden
The hospital was cited for a noise violation
I made a screaming entrance, I was a tour de force
With a quarter-inch jack umbilical cord
When they took me home, I got off on the wrong foot
King Kong saw me coming, said “There goes the neighborhood”
My mother’s milk was rattlesnake root
They used to change my diaper in a hazmat suit
I was just getting started, go Janie go
Here’s what I played for my first solo
(solo verse)
Standing in the front row was a girl about my age
She said she played the piano and she made the heavens rage
I asked her on a playdate but our parents intervened
Some flimsy caveat about no bandmates till we’re teens
We snuck off to rehearsal on some ramshackle planet
This is what it sounded like when we could finally jam it
(solo verse)

Hilarous lyrics and great blues groove.
Loved the solo but my favourite is the duo part.
Good job !
@nancycunning Mar 2022
Oh, this rocks. Go, Janie, Go.
@johncrossman Mar 2022
This is disturbing in all the right ways, yikes. How do I get the umbilical 1/4" jack out of my head?! Then the diaper in a hazmat suit made smile. Nancy's growl is great. Then the random weird details that keep us slightly off-kilter are fun. Really like that third verse. Keepin' it weird with the long outro, ha. Great trip.
@fearlessflight2014 Mar 2022
This lyric is hilarious and the blues is oozing out of every measure. You guys need to make a whole album. We need more girl blues in the world. Incredible collab!
@roblincoln Mar 2022
Ha! This is a great set of lyrics and perfect blues accompaniment. Love the fuzz lead! Lots of fun!
@mikegtz Feb 2022
Never heard nothing like my ultrasound-a great line! Just a fun and clever song all around. If Chuck Berry were born a girl...
@elainedimasi Feb 2022
Hilarious. No way can I comment as clever as thing song is, and I refuse to try. I'm particularly enjoying listening to Nancy "growl". It's kinda like listening to @charliecheney "shred" X-D
Ah, such good midwest memories
@gilhari Feb 2022
so fun, and so clever... are the blues supposed to make the listener smile this much?
@janeg Feb 2022
I adore this! Such imaginative toe-tapping fun.
@kayepeanyc Feb 2022
Great solos, funny as hell. I loved "They used to change my diaper in a hazmat suit."
@p3t3h4rv3y Feb 2022
great words
@ericdistad Feb 2022
Oh I love this! The lyric is hilarious! Go Janie Go! Love the solos!
Just so much fun all the way through!
This is so much fun! (I may run out of exclamation points! )
Great collab!
@klyma Feb 2022
Hilarious! Love me a good joke and there are so many banger lines in here. From the "fetus" opener to the "quarter-inch jack" on through hazmats suits and rehearsals on a ramshackle planet, big smiles. What a hoot.
@vomvorton Feb 2022
Funny, clever lyric and some ferocious guitar / piano shredding! This is a lot of fun. Something witty in every line but I'm particularly taken by the use of "caveat", a word that does not often crop up in songs!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
+1 to @elesimo's comments. This is so dirty, wrong and silly and I'm completely here for it.
@elesimo Feb 2022
Hahaha, best start of a blues: "When I was a fetus". And then the line about King Kong, the diaper, it just keeps getting better! Love everything about this song, what an amazing collab.
@pooka Feb 2022
Ooooooh, I like this. The piano solo bit really works with the bluesy backing.
@tcelliott Feb 2022
What an awesome combination of traditional and modern takes on the blues, that lyric is great. Yeah, I'm digging the new guitar. Great to hear you two bluesin' it out.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
I have no idea how I missed this, thanks for the nudge @helenseviltwin this is hilarious, nice take on the blues fo sho!
Love all of the solo breaks... proper showcase moments... would like to see this one live!
And how badass is that guitar?!?
@ianuarius Feb 2022
Sounds like a rough childhood! :D
I guess that's how you get to be a rocker and a roller.
The guitar sounds divine
@cubizm Feb 2022
Yeah!!!!!!!! Guitar tone!!!!!!! Love this story and song. So much fun. And so funny.
@mikeskliar Feb 2022
wow! love the over the top blues boasting, so off the wall erudite and funny, and that guitar solo gets to the heart of things! Professor Longhair is diggin' that piano -- what a great jam the guitar and piano do and the whole thing is so much fun! love those off the wall held notes on the guitar at places, so badass! :)
@mikedebenham Feb 2022
You know you're rocking hard when the piano pitch wheel gets involved! Love the lyrics, and top solos from you both. I'd come get your autographs, but maybe I'll wait till that diaper's changed.
@jorh Feb 2022
This has me hooked from the start, sounded familiar from first listen, absolutely timeless. Can we have a shoutout for that electric guitar too, the solos was fire. And if that wasn’t enough the lyric was ace, you really sold the image of the baby being born to rock
@circle Feb 2022
i often like songs with ridiculous braggadocio, and this certainly fits the bill. the guitar licks sound punchy and edgy, and the lyrics are great fun. i especially like "they used to change my diaper in a hazmat suit", just very funny all round
@mal Feb 2022
O my fucking wow! : D. This is exactly what I've missed about FAWM!
@timfatchen Feb 2022
Applause!! Applause!! "With a quarter-inch jack umbilical cord" , hazmat diaper changing! Perhaps it's just as well we're on opposite sides of the globe. Love the parental prohibitions..! A pair of brilliant performers, it's a wonder that your parents ever released you from that basement! Download.
@pfoo Feb 2022
:) :) So much fun :)
Great lyrics and awesome delivery! I can tell you both had fun making this. Bandmate playdate - that's so funny!
@valeriecox Feb 2022
Ooooohhhhh! That guitar is dirty and nasty and perfect! Banging good piano too. This is so fun!
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Quirky crazy rocker blues! The lyrics crack me up! Great groove and wonderful guitar and piano solos. Love those gritty vocals too! Made me smile!
@hornesgiftshop Feb 2022
Brutal... The words are great but the insouciant piano/guitar verse is the best noise so far this year.
@zecoop Feb 2022
I saw Helen had a new guitar and knew I had to check this out. Then I see it's a collab between you two... and THEN I read the lyrics... The song did NOT disappoint. Constant smiles and just such a great song. Awesome!
