I really wish I could click a button to designate something as half a song, because this is really just a shaggy dog pun masquerading as a song. No demo because it's someone else's tune.
(To the tune of "Sympathy For The Devil" by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards)
Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm music of culture and taste
Every note has a part to play, and none of them goes to waste
The horns I play aren't on my head, my strings aren't something I pull
Winds and brass and percussion join to make the sound rich and full
Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name
Making music is the nature of my game
I was there when Mozart took his pen, writing pieces we still love today
I was there for Beethoven's works though he couldn't hear them play
Brahms and Schubert, Copeland and Ives have all written under my spell
I show a thousand faces, even so you know me well
Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name
Making music is the nature of my game

I was doing the same as benii1954! Hope tohear you sing this soon. Very appropriate for this music community.

That put a smile on my lips. I was singing "Whoo Hoo, Whoo Hoo" all the way through as I read it :-)
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Wonderful nods to various composers and great development of a lyric around the prompt!
@theodamus Feb 2022
Ha! I love this take on it! And written from the point of view of a personified symphony? That’s creative as! Love “the horns I play aren’t on my head”
@chroes Feb 2022
This is a cool take on the subject! I feel almost relieved that I didn't use my beloved french horns today! ;^_^
@mikehex Feb 2022
Hah! Always like a Beethoven joke. Glad you posted, this made me smile
@coolparadiso Feb 2022

@andygriff Feb 2022
Well I still like it :)
@arthurrossi Feb 2022
A very clever and awesome write! I like the references to Mozart, Beethoven etc. and then how the musicians and lyricists are directly getting addressed in the line "I show a thousand faces, even so you know me well". Beautifully done!
@wylddandelyon Feb 2022
Ha ha! Very nice. I hope to hear this at a Filk soon.
@gmcgath Feb 2022
Don't forget Liszt's "Faust Symphony." That was a symphony for the Devil!
@metalfoot Feb 2022
Yeah, we all know the tune. Good job making the words fit and a clever direction to take the prompt!
