Winter
Snow falls and paints the ground
Trees wear their white cloaks
Children making angel forms
Fireplace with kiln dried oak
Many things of beauty come
When the sun is in the south
We raise our toasts and toddys
To warm our lucky mouths
Our minds fall fast asleep
To the plight of those in need
Who wander without home or food
And suffer in the freeze
In a season when Christmas comes
We should reach out to these
And meet the needs of suffering folk
Instead of Christmas trees

This is a really solid lyric, once again. I'm tempted to have a go, if you don't mind

Definitely some great imagery, and the tonal shift towards the end was nicely done!

This really took a turn from an ode to the season to a beautiful and sobering message, I had to read it twice and really enjoy that moment of tonal change - having it mid verse, where you think the falling asleep is warm and contented then realising it’s unkind is a really interesting and provoking journey. Nice!
