Having fun with FAWM Twitter prompt # 6:
6. Write a song using only 14 words. You can reuse/reorder them however you like.
Got a foot of snow last night (7)
Woodstove burning (9)
Sparkling lights (11)
Snow angels (12)
Snowball fights (14)
@intoyourlight Mar 2022
Love the guitar sound and your soulful vocals on this one! The images you created are simple and in that they are utterly beautiful.
@heliosonorous Mar 2022
For a track about snow this has a warm sound to me, as if you are signing this indoors while the snow keeps falling, the drums sound great, and nicely done with the limited word options. #tit4tat
@stephenwordsmith Mar 2022
It seems brevity is the soul of more than just wit. The picture painted by this song, short on both words and time, is utterly lush. I'm listening to this at the tail end of a hot summer, and there's no place I'd rather be than the cozy, gleaming world you've built from a mere foot of snow.

@jonmeta Mar 2022
You sure nailed the sweet r&b sound. The strings add the perfect touch. I like that the guitars and bass are real, organic, and playing off each other. This lends itself really well to the minimalist lyrics, painting a scene with a minimum of words.
@oswlek Mar 2022
Nice. My head started bobbing when the drums came in and the lead on the right is slick as shit. You've got a touch of Mark Knopfler in you, in the way that your leadwork has a "lyrical" sense about it. As if the guitar is not just being plucked, it's singing.
For some reason I laughed aloud on "snowball fights". Not sure why that hit more than the other examples, but it did.
Great work.
@wylddandelyon Mar 2022
Interesting use of the 14 words. I didn't expect I'd be enjoying a song written for this challenge so much. Nice laid back vocals and accompaniment.

@abudabard12514 Mar 2022
The groove of this song wears clear lucite platform shoes with fish swimming in them. I had my stank face on the whole time. YUS. My criticism is that it ended way too soon. That may have ruined my entire day. Better listen to it again.
@reboog711 Mar 2022
You have a great deep voice. I love the layered vocals on top of each other, and that guitar tone is awesome. I enjoyed it!
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
Top class guitar from the first note. Well done on the lyrics few words but the picture is clear. Nice one #tit4tat
@kcc Feb 2022
Just had a listen to foot of snow… Great tune! Really dig in the vocal! Sweeet!
Love the whole production!

@mckillop Feb 2022
Smooth! Love the vocal panning.
The vibe is very evocative of a winter day or night huddled up inside, and going outside to play.
Great Job with the challenge, too!
@splittybooms Feb 2022
Good grief this old school soul vibe got me scrunching my face with my head bobbing in a circle - but its that very small tight circle reserved for when a groove is real real nice.
Your bass and guitar here make me think of SO many good things from my listening past.
I have fond memories of snow, sure....but I also have non-fond memories of snow that are so non-fond, they outweigh the fond ones. I'll never move back to a snow state.
But this lovely music backing make your lyric challenge feel cozy and it brings back the fond memories of those snowy times. Never made a snow angel or knew anyone with a wood-burning stove, though.
Oy, that smooth rhythmic guitar panned to the left sounds SOOO good. And those sweet melodic pieces of candy you got panned right...
Man, this hit a sweet spot.
@tunecat Feb 2022
Like this challenge interesting. Enjoying the listen immensely too.
@andrea Feb 2022
Strangely enough we have no snow in NY mid-February. You almost make me miss it. There are some nice things about snow. Love the snow angels and sparkling lights. Snowball fights are fun too :)
Love the guitar and your vocals. Impressive song with just 14 words!
@leka Feb 2022
Nice groove. Sweet sounds… Great!
@andrewrusse Feb 2022
Woo... that's a cool sound. Love the vocals.
@ohljazz Feb 2022
Very cool - held my attention all the way through to that last snowball fight
@mandolinda Feb 2022
Great to hear how a foot of snow can impact. Loved the way you overlay the vocals. Nice listening.
@n24 Feb 2022
Oh man the vocals on this are sooo ace, beautiful bassy tones. Also absolutely genius use of the 14 word challenge! I love the vocals coming in and overlapping complementing each other perfectly, makes it feel kind of dreamy and idyllic. Excellent mellow guitar and prompts a really vivid wintry picture to me! Incredible work!
@schuylerf Feb 2022
Love the electric tone you achieved.
@brisk Feb 2022
Oh my goodness, I listened first and read the notes second - I'm amazed at what you did with those words; it isn't forced at all.
Talking of vocal tricks and stuff, loved your use of your terrifying low growl here and there - kind of like a big, friendly bear waking from hibernation.
Really liked all the instrumental backing too - the synths or whatever were nice and complemented it well. This was a really fun nice one - when the second voice came in I was smiling because it was just so... warm.
@owl Feb 2022
You got a lot of mileage out of those 14 words! This has a nice sway and gives a cozy feel.
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
Sweet and smooth here. Lovely stuff. Love the different guitar pieces coming in and out. Nice.
@gregwere Feb 2022
Yes, lovely jazz feel opening, a little Barry White going on. Love it. Such a cool feel.
@oaksnprairie Feb 2022
Wow! I was listening with headphones and got the full stereo effect of the voices in each ear. Wonderful production, it makes snow sound groovy--which it is.
@roddy Feb 2022
Super cool. You really know what you are doing and it's very good indeed. The vocal are excellent.
@cts Feb 2022
From our convo yesterday - uh, you're a lot more musically insightful than you credit yourself. My man, those this arrangement is rather simple, there's a great deal of care I hear. The mix (especially those strings panned to the left) are nuanced well with the other instruments. Your spoken word performance accentuates the instrumentation. This works in totality. And others will tell you, I don't blow smoke. I like what you've got going on here, my friend.
@moonraccoon Feb 2022
The repeating layers is a nice approach to the challenge. Love your guitar and the overall groove you captured.
@fonte Feb 2022
Ooh, what a lovely sound! Hooked me right in from the get go. Has an almost funkadelic feel to it, or Zappa or something crazy/funky like that?! Really like it a lot!
@jtsteam Feb 2022
Cool sound! And it just shows you don't need many words to paint a vivid picture - I have quite a detailed scene in my mind now!
@caitlin Feb 2022
OMG I LOVE YOUR VOICE. Sorry I’m e-shouting, but it’s just so yummy! I feel like I got a foot of snow over here last night and I’m wrapped up in your velvety voice, curled up by the woodstove burning and sparkling lights while the kids are outside making snow angels and having snowballs fights. You did a lot with 14 words! Pass the hot cocoa.
@thedutchwidows Feb 2022
Very nice. Hard to make a limited word song work without sounding like that’s what you’re doing, but this doesn’t sound laboured or repetitive - feels pretty natural and discursive. I like it! Lovely relaxed jazzy vibe with some great guitar work! And did you have a foot of snow? That would be my idea of heaven! (We don’t get much snow round my way).
@wobbiewobbit Feb 2022
ooh nice mellow jazz vibe and easy groove. the 2 word lines work lovely with repeated first line. charming and with an undercurrent of child-like excitement. nicely done
@katestantonsings Feb 2022
Loving the jazzy vibes here--such a relaxing chill song! Your guitar chops are amazing, Rich! Nice job!
@thetau Feb 2022
Wow! Says a lot in such short stretches. Love how the strings just hold it all togehter.
Russ
@nahlej381 Feb 2022
Ooooo swanky. This came out dope man! Comin with the fire!
@kristi Feb 2022
This is so relaxing and smooooth! Oh, I just saw David Taro's smooth comment too...lol. But it is! I can picture it all and be thankful for that woodstove burning! Sounds great. Fun challenge!
@nadine Feb 2022
As David says. That's smooth. Great beat, grate guitars and I like the backing vocals. Interesting arrangement.
@davidtaro Feb 2022
I’m loving how your production chops are getting more and more polished almost every song you do. This is smooth with a capital SMOOTH. Very cool take on the challenge. I could happily sit and listen to you sing ‘got a foot of snow last night’ on a loop all night. In fact I just might…
@serene123 Feb 2022
Like how you are experimenting with the overlapping and repeating vocals. The words and music combined paints a lovely picture. Like what @suburbanfolk said about a mellow cafe vibe. Nice one!
@suburbanfolk Feb 2022
The quality of this demo is outstanding!
This feels like something that would make its way to a cafe's playlist.
