Feb 2022 collaboration doo wap fuc
Words by Crisp1
Tune and vocals Berni1954
I imagined this as an early 60s "doowap" song.
Where you hear my doody doos, imagine a whole backing chorus singing "doo wap a lale lale"
I have deliberately avoided hearing the other version. Now off to give it a spin.
Doug: Thanks, Berni. That's a fun listen and the contrast with Justin's rendition shows you how wildly different two musical minds can set the same words.
Life’s never blue
All thanks to you
Your love is true
Do you
Remember
The timeless mile
You wore a smile
And all the while
My heart
Grew tender?
Please let me say
I’ll always stay
Won’t run away
Today
Or ever
The whole world knows
Our love flows
Because we go
So well
Together
Life’s never blue
All thanks to you
Your love is true
Do you
Remember too?

So pleasant! I always love the lyrics of @crisp1 and listen to as many songs as I can that have them. This is so very pleasant and fun. Great lyrics and they fit so naturally with the music. Now I want to listen to the other version! I actually want to set up a challenge next year with people doing their lyrics and singing to the same piece of music, but this would also be a great part of that challenge. Fascinating how different people can hear different things in the same lyric (or music, for that matter). Very well done!

This is so fun to listen to. I kind of hear a 30s, Rudy Vallee vibe before you get to the DooWoppy parts. I don't know if it's the lyrics or that Uke's were super popular around then, but the fact that they could easily be from so many different periods attests to their universal versatility. I really enjoyed it!

Good sounding Uke and vocal. The words and music fit perfectly together!

Retro fun! I echo those who want a version with doo-wap singers.
@colgoo Feb 2022
Thanks for giving the liner notes so that my brain could fill in the extra sounds you imagined, @berni1954
Now I want to listen to the other version! Fun collaboration.

Has a little "Octopus's Garden" vibe to it, but I can still hear it as a doo-wop.
Great collaboration, you guys--wonderful vocal!
@acousticmaddie Feb 2022
Aaaw lovely. What a fat. Collab you 2. Great tune in all ways.
@crisp1 Feb 2022
@oswlek You guys did both put up versions of Just One last year -- Berni's was the slower, sadder one (ah, what a difference a year makes!) and you posted a jauntier version that included some new lyrics.
@mikeb Feb 2022
A fun version of one of Doug's light-hearted short-lined lyrics!
@silvermediapro Feb 2022
ooh i love the combination of the doo-wop style w/ the simplicity of a ukulele! this is so catchy, and your vocal delivery is awesome! :D
@wylddandelyon Feb 2022
I like the happy vibe!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
Very nice. Just so happy (and you are playing it on the ukulele, so it's sort of a given). I really like the lyrics and now wish I had gotten a crack at them!

Wow, totally different. And it totally works! Yes, it probably isn't a coincidence that we both went with a somewhat "classic" feel. I also find it interesting that we both turned the 3rd verse into a chorus despite it being the same structure as the rest of the stanzas. Is that simply due to placement?
I really like the strumming pattern change at the end of each verse, it does a great job of closing the loop. Nice "do do" part as well, it was the right choice.
BTW, didn't we do wildly different versions of Doug's lyric last year as well? Or am I imagining things?

Great vocal! What a sweet little song. I could hear the doowop backup singers and everything :) nice work, you two!
