Feb 2022 retail spokenword wonky
Between 2001 and 2005 I worked in a guitar shop, and this is all I have to say on the subject.
I Used To Work In Retail
And now I hate everybody
Cooler heads don't prevail
When you work in retail
I used to work in retail
Now I wanna kill everyone
I'm surprised I didn't end up in jail
When I worked in retail
Profit always wins
Over worker satisfaction
Mental health suffers
When you have to live by the imperative that the customer is always right
General public
Oh so toxic
General public
Oh so toxic
The customer is always right.
Balsheth!!!

Love it. This is my kind of music.
@cowboydick Feb 2022
Love the Kraftwerk-y tune!
@susyblue Feb 2022
Heheh :) I remember your wonky genre and again was not disappointed . Great piano lines there and awesome mixing, and of course those lyrics
@wobbiewobbit Feb 2022
nice. i love how the backing mimics the tills.
@acousticmaddie Feb 2022
Haha I also used to work there when I was young and I did hate the people :) I missed you mate. Its great performed.and very well written,
@blindkiwi Feb 2022
Deep, dark and insightful. There is an award winning short film out there somewhere waiting to be made under this track!
@karlsburg25 Feb 2022
Ha ha me too matey. A true test of patience which i didn't have when i worked in retail. Love the intricate accompaniment and the pounding bass is exactly how my head felt most of the day ;-)
@thedutchwidows Feb 2022
I love the first two lines - been there, done that! Muscially perky and vocally compelling. I'm really enjoyed this direction!
@fuzzy Feb 2022
I'm loving your tragic sense of humour.
I gotta say, I've gone out of my way to avoid working with "the public" in my life.
Yeah, this is great.
@darcistrutt Feb 2022
The bouncing from ear to ear was cool and I know that takes time. I had to listen a second time to pay more attention to the backing music. It's cool. I especially enjoyed the piano combined with the synth.
@tamsnumber4 Feb 2022
I couldn't love this more....I did eight years managing card shops and this is way too relatable....gave me a good laugh, this is awesome!
@lowhum Feb 2022
Nice chipbit tchaikovsky there. Though I guess guitars is better than drills. Well, who knows?
@mikeskliar Feb 2022
A song that needed to be written, for sure. Wonderful vocal delivery of something that's unfortunately too true, and the backing is well done- a great listen!
@nancyrost Feb 2022
Sadly true, and I've been there too. I enjoy your spoken delivery and the cool, glitchy instrumentation.

I don't know how people who work in retail put up with the entitled ****s they must encounter daily. I was getting a bit of a Sleaford Mods vibe from this one. Very good!
