Feb 2022 s020322b skirmish failure
I was working on some demo vocals for a collab and sent them over with nothing but a simple drum under them. Really liked how it sounded. After I sent it I saw this skirmish and jumped on it and thought I'd do the same thing for a finished track.
Despite the bare bones production and the one minute run time, I needed a couple of hours to get one good take. I could have comped and had faster and cleaner results, but it was the spirit of the thing.
Good news bad news
You ain’t gotta choose
It’s the same either way
Just a matter how you view
The situation
You find yourself in
The truth might free you
Or feel like a prison
I know you got that
Little voice that won’t stop
Chatting in your ear bought
Everything to fear but
Let me set the record clear
You ain’t never gonna have enough.
Game your playing
Really ain’t the same one
Different set of rules for
For different types players
Dice are loaded
Kitty gets floated
House rules favour those
from a certain zip code
So when you got
Trouble linking up the dots
Sensing that it isn’t fair
Like the system doesn’t care
One more time so you hear
You ain’t never gonna have enough.
Ain’t a reason for you giving up
Just put time in what you love.

Simplicity really works here.
Like we will rock you, but with a point :)

I enjoyed this one, the drums and vocals work really well and it really doesn't feel like it needs anything more.

So simple and so effective. Drums and vox that SLAY. wicked skirmish!

Very cool idea. Simple and it works.

Simple, yet effective. Like Dylan met Billy Joel in a bar (that didn't have a piano) & they got together & jammed. Awesome!
See You In The Shadows…

Love the sing/talk style. Left me wanting more!

Dylanesque! Well written, well executed. You have a great flow with the lyrics, smooth and punchy. Great skirmish!

Sounding groovy. Has a feel of being an intro where it blasts into some heavy rock.

Almost sounds like a playground chant. I really like the rhythm that develops.
