i know i said i was only sharing st◇rm songs this year but then i wrote this song today in like an hour. a bit sloppy especially towards the end but that's what FAWM's all about. lyrics will probably get another draft for the album version, excited to add different harmonies and stuff.
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
cut worms makin' arrangements
nearer my god to thee
manila archeologist
digging through the paper wastes
you can't find the answer
and now you hear footsteps coming up the hall
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
and i will not live in a house
built from the soggy bricks of my own pain
and i will not serve the ghosts
betting on me to fail
i will wonder as i wander
as field mice and wichetty grubs dance all night
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
dark trees got a message for me
call me twice a week
enjoy your new beak
paper bags all over the floor
i don't mind the wait

this is how you open a door

Main melody reminds me of Born This Way by Lady Gaga, or Waterfalls by TLC.
This is that classic Pure Mothman we've all come to know and love. I really think the ending is so fun, it feels like you're being hit by whatever it is the dark trees were saying. And that's the door you're being pulled into.

You have a really lovely turn of lyrical phrase “I will not serve the ghosts betting on me to fail” is really great, and “enjoy your new beak” is such a fantastic image. I love how this devolves too, from so confident and in control to that kinda slipping - awesome delivery!
