A quirky little song about those precious days off from school. Featuring my good friend @michaelgentile on guitar.
Forecast shows 12 inches of snow
Must be lake effect from Ontario
I got my pencil in the freezer and it’s getting cold
That’s how these winters always go
The plows come in, but they can’t keep up
My theory and suspicion’s not just based off luck
The weather man says driving’s gonna be tough
As the news comes through that I can’t get enough - let it snow
I don’t care ‘cause I got a snow day
Let my obligations go
I don’t care ‘cause I got a snow day
It can wait ‘till tomorrow
I think I’ll build a snowman
And call him Jeffrey
Or Jimbo
Or Jeff
Or Jim!
Or Jefferson
Who knows?
The sun beats down through winter’s trees
The pines look like their made of vanilla ice cream
Trekking through the woods at least knee deep
The next adventure is wherever you seek
Cars all over the side of the road
There’s some old guy yelling he forgot his phone
And the rest of the world is a swirly ice globe
Something only us up north kids know - let it snow
I don’t care ‘cause I got a snow day
Let my obligations go
I don’t care ‘cause I got a snow day
It can wait ‘till tomorrow
Yo, who wants to go sledding?
Sledding’s awesome
Until you hit the car
That’s not as fun

What a fun song!! As an educator, the familiar celebration of a snow day is a special treat... until you go back to school the next day...haha. I enjoyed the layering of different types of synth sounds along with the kind of 70's groove of organ overlay. The spoken parts add to the playfulness of the song. Bravo!

Here's another fun song that slaps! The lyrics paint such a familiar picture, as a Rochester, NY native and a former student of Potsdam. The vocal production on this track gives me King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard vibes, which I am totally here for. I'm enjoying how silly and playful this song is! Hahaha the spoken parts are such a fun touch!

This song is, like, obviously great, but nothing even comes close to "The rest of the world is a swirly ice globe"
HECK YEAH MIKE ON THAT CHILL GUITAR SOLO
The chorus chords are appropriately mischievous.

Oh man how did I miss this! I like that old school piano tone and the organ. Makes me wanna go to school again. This song is fun to listen. Thanks!

I love this. I went to college in Oswego and know a little about lake effect off Ontario. The lyrics paint some vivid images. I particularly loved:
'The pines look like their made of vanilla ice cream
and
'And the rest of the world is a swirly ice globe"
The music is fun and upbeat. I get that perfect exciting vibe for a snow day. Great collab!

great collab! I love the guitar solo. Really enjoyed listening to this and made me happy. I'm from Ontario and our consecutive -13 days have started haha

There's that Syracuse influence! I just got back from sliding all over the place just moving my car enough to shovel. Anyway, another super tight instrumental and killer simple guitar solo, loved that.

That's a fun one!

This is great! Can totally relate, always loved snow days! Still do, though they're rare for adults even here in Wisconsin ;) Love what you did to the vocals on the chorus...the verses sound like a nod to 80's new wave...really cool! Let it snow!

Such a fun song! Really made me want return to the snow days of my youth. Loved the part about naming the snowman. I literally lol’d. Nice work!

the tone of the main keyboard is really nice. my favorite part was definitely the bridge with the 8 bit tones. I was listening in the background and the sledding line at the end got me
