If there was ever a title track to my album, this is it. I REALLY like the way this came together (and I don’t say that very often)
DRIFTING FARTHER APART
(Music/lyrics by David Kav.

Pass it off as cliche - forget about the waves
But we were on the same boat when we started to play
Life presents a change - and more after on the brink
Did we believe we'd be spared for the sake of yesterday?
Vanity - shatters in place - what the Hell did we embrace
Since life revealed its colors and the truth begins to break
The dreams that I once chased became nightmares in disarray
Was all this wasted time since truth is falseness in a haze?
CHORUS:
Careful what you say when you profess your love
And pick your fruit right off the vine
What once was common ground receives a rift
And now we're drifting farther apart - with no end to the split in sight
(No end to the split in sight...no end to the split in sight...)
We used to lift each other's gaze - instead we're seeing darker days
Safe havens where doorknobs freeze and lock us all into place
No more will we embrace - the walls go up to save our face
When we don't see that we saw one another in our place
Instead of giving grace - we pay homage to bitter taste
No wonder we're no longer on the same journey today
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE:
And to think that I was about to give my whole life for you
But I know our paths had to cross and I'm the better for it, too
I wish nothing more than your happiness and it's all overdue
But it's been nice knowing you since now I don't really know you at all
(But I know all too well how broken you are from the fall...)
REPEAT CHORUS
OUTRO:
We're drifting farther apart -our paths, our calling are our own truth//s
We're drifting farther apart - you don't know the magic that's within you

Nice brisk energy in this track. Like the nouns in the stanza where there are frozen doorknobs and walls going up to save our faces - makes for very discrete images that are memorable. Your two guitar tracks (that I hear up into the bridge I guess? then there's more) are plenty to give multiple dimensions of melody and rhythm, that is nice work!

@valeriecox thank you so much for your kind words. I am behind on listening to songs. I will listen soon!

Excellent guitar work. I love that solo. Really cool vibe to this all aroma. I like the how you use really long lines but are able to make the rhythm of the words so catchy that it works. Really cool song.
