Went over to Merrill's house today and gave songwriting together a try for the first time.
Started with an idea of moving away from someone and pulled some ideas from some memories Merrill had and some other general ideas we came up with.
Verse vocals and rhythm guitar: Jorge
Chorus lead vocals and lead guitar: Merrill
Mixing: Merrill
Not bad for a day's work!
Young and wild, golden days
Heavy hearts, summer rain
Teary eyes, and searing pain
The world collapsed when you went away
Though our paths go their separate ways
I know in my heart I’ll see you again
The sun is setting on this chapter of life
I’ll see you again on the other side
All our dreams will remain
In my heart and in my head,
It’s been years, but I won’t sway
I grew strong when you went away
Though our paths go their separate ways
I know in my heart I’ll see you again
The sun is setting on this chapter of life
I’ll see you again on the other side
A thousand miles and years apart
We lived with our broken hearts
But now that I know you’re here to stay
All the clouds have gone away

Great melody and chord progression, awesome guitars told a story almost by themselves, and I love the deep, raspy vocals almost under them at certain points, conveyed a lot of emotion.

Those intro swirling swells are a great mood setter, and they give a nice lushness to the tune as it builds. The large harmonies engulf the lead vocal really interestingly, it takes on a really dreamlike quality.
Nice slide work in the solo! Very cool tune!

Nice! Love the push and pull of the electric guitar drone in the intro. A nice contrast between the electric and the driving acoustic throughout.

I love the vocal harmonies at 2.40, as well as the guitar solo at 2.59. So vibey!

I like how it switches from a lightness to a darkness in the first verse, and especially love that guitar solo before the final verse. It was fire. The ‘here to stay, clouds gone away couplet’ was my fave line, you know what they say end on a high!

Sweet!

Great collab. Love the simplicity here, just let those geeters shine. That dropped-d slide was a great choice.

Love this! The guitars are fab, great lyrics, nice vocals. Really top quality collab

Wonderful collab. The ache for love lost sits atop that wonderfully psychedelic, phazey guitar like a gem.

That is a classic intro guitar progression and it all leads very nicely into the verse. I love the playing of the vocal melody against some standard chord tones before you build it up into some borrowed chords.
That chorus has some very rich and dense harmonization going on it, so good. I know I've said this on another song of yours, but this one definitely needs to be built up into a produced song sometime in March.
And is that slide guitar on a baritone/7-string/drop-D something? I don't think I've ever heard that. Again, produce this song! I love it for what it is, too but I would love to hear your collective vision shine even brighter!
