Song 2, spent hours writing another completely different song and then realised it had already been written (Ordinary world by Duran Duran!). Fully committed and well into a bottle of red I turned the page of the notebook and (fortunately) there was the disaster ballad! Listening back today by biggest note to self is, going forward, set up the recording levels so that the words can be understood. It didn't help that the 'melody' was so low. Or do a remix - now attached.
Recently a tree fell across a mobile home
smashing up the kitchen but injuring no-one
The occupants were fortunately not in at the time
The tree fell at noon and they were all at work or school
The same day a petrol tanker overturned
it burst into flames and set fire to a nearby church
fortunately it was a weekday and no-one was at prayer
Ch: What's for you won't pass you by
A gunfight was in progress
at a busy shopping mall
despite many shots being fired no-one was hurt at all
after many minutes police cars arrived
the gunmen surrendered and were taken in alive

I love me a disaster ballad that rocks and in which no-one meets their doom! ;-)

Crunchy! I like the fuzz on those guitars and the Final Destination-but-surprisingly-optimistic lyrics. Very catchy chorus.

Turned out pretty well with super crunchy guitars! I think audible/intelligible vocals are over-rated, and anyway, these are absolutely clear (by my standards, anyway)!
I'd love to hear your take on Ordinary World - change a couple of notes and do it anyway! I doubt their lawyers are checking here...!

Nice squealing crunchy guitars with those fatalistic lyrics. Sort of an 'averted for now but inevitable disaster' ballad. I like it.
