The theme was "values", which somehow became a song about family secrets... it's related, but definitely not the direction I was planning to go in, lol.
This is one of those songs I think I'm really going to like after some major post-FAWM edits, but I'm proud I got this far during a skirmish.
black and white like snow in the night sky
nothing here to justify
black and white
is our family portrait
black and white
black and crimson
white lies in the night
black when i close my eyes and wish that this was right
in the end, the wish is the only thing i have
black and white like piano keys
and all the things nobody sees
black and white
is our family portrait
black and white
black and crimson
white lies in the night
black when i close my eyes and fall into the night
in the end, it's the only thing i have

I love the strings carrying the melody at the back, the reflective lyrics and quieter vocals. Sounds very reflective. And that horn solo at 2.47

ooh gorgeous strings. lovely with the piano. has such a poignant presence. ooh brass too. that is such a lovely sound. has a cool pulse to it too - nice slow groove. your fragile vocal is beautiful too. really like this one, soooo well done for a skirmish!

Oooo, this is so suspenseful and captivating. You set quite the mood here. I like that you haven't specifically told the listener what the secret or "white lie" is. Definitely a keeper for post-FAWM development!

I like how you let the prompt take you to a place of your own.
Black and white metaphors weave the whole piece together nicely :)

Rightly proud, I'd say. The music is super - the string/piano combo works really well and suits the lyric. There's a fragility to your vocal delivery that works really well, both in terms of the meaning and sitting against the lush strings. While I'm intrigued to know the secret underlying the lyric, I love it when it's not laid out on a plate. The mystery works well.
