Making wrong decisions, and the impact that can have on the rest of your life.
Pretty much sums up where I am right now. :’-(
My eyes were open
You never tried to close them
You never made me promises
You couldn’t keep
But now I sit here lonely
Aching for you only
I cannot move, I cannot breathe
I cannot even sleep
We dived head first into heartache
A jump we thought we had to take
But now I know that was a big mistake
We should have found a way through
You know I love and miss you
I hadn’t realised so much was at stake
My eyes still open
I just can’t seem to close them
I look for signs that one day
You’ll be back
I need to see you
I long to free you
From self inflicted shackles
That hold you back
We dived head first into heartache
A jump we thought we had to take
But now I know that was a big mistake
We should have found a way through
You know I love and miss you
I hadn’t realised so much was at stake

Great lyrics...honest, relatable and great rhyming. I also like your vocal quality. The music is intriguing (in a good way!) :)

Came here after listening to the acoustic version. It's hard to decide which one I like better! They're so different. The production here works really well.
I always found it hard to write electronic songs where I sing... I usually make either acoustic recordings with vocals, or electronic instrumental songs. This year I'm trying to join those two worlds, but I haven't been happy with the results yet. You did a great job here!

Liked the intro melody line, so melancholy sounding. This version to my ears is superior to the acoustic. Certainly not what I was expecting. The instrumentation gives this such a heartbreaking feeling. Hits hard man!

I love the sound here. Takes me back to the 80s! Maybe a bit OMD... the synthy setting is perfect for the clearly heartfelt lyrics.

I can feel the pain leaping out of this song. And like the others have said, there is a surreal, dreamy happiness juxtaposed against it that perfectly mimics how grief and heartbreak feel - like you're in suspended animation from a world that, largely, is turning the same way it was in the days before the loss. Hope you find your way to a better place this month, and that your art is part of the healing. Welcome to the FAWM community - I'm sure you'll find a few great folks here to bond with and pull through.

The bright cherry pop arrangement serves to amplify the loneliness in the sadness of the lyric. What a beautiful sad happy pop song.

Great 80s feel to this. Especially in the vocal. Lovely melody in the chorus
