Feb 2022 rock pop-punk sonic-boom
** The last of this song dump. I hoarded a few tunes until I had the chance to record vocals on all of them in one session. Even still, I was all out of pep for a song that demanded some strong deliveries. **. The music started with a random drumbeat in Garageband, improvised guitar layers upon the first listen.
Lyrics: A month ago there was a mysterious boom heard over Springfield, Illinois. It turned out to be a sonic boom caused by an American fighter jet. Which begs the question, what kind of world have we chosen to build where on any given day regular civilians are struggling to scrape together a meager living (on the ground) while deadly/expensive military equipment plays war games above us? I guess they need to fly them every once in a while to keep them running smoothly LOL
To be imprisoned in the
viewless wisdom
to die, we know not where.
Collect the light
and muster the fight
and take your frustration to the air
You fool around at the speed of sound!
the kitchen plates come crashing down!
Chorus:
Fly on a plane to nowhere
to a place you can trust
on a plane to nowhere
just in case you’re one of us
on a plane over nowhere
you can boom until you bust
in a plane to nowhere
V2:
you slave in the cries of the locusts
to bathe, in fiery focus
Alleyways are the trenches we play
the rent is due below us
you course correct! You hit eject !
Our little world is such a wreck !
Chorus:
Fly, on a plane to nowhere
to a place you can trust
on a plane to nowhere
just in case you’re one of us
on a plane over nowhere
you can boom until you bust
in a plane to nowhere

I lived next to a naval base as a kid we heard them all the time, but I think they made them stop doing it cause I never hear them when I’m over there. They are however trying to steal away another million acres of land because they said they need more land to practice bomb dropping. Sorry for the tangent. Anyways another banger loving your voice as usual best pet to me is the pre chorus and yet another song that made me wish I had garage band somewhere besides just my phone maybe I should just make the beats and export them.

Seriously great power pop. What really grabs me here (beyond the hooks) is the use of second person, the very human dynamic between the "us" on the ground and the pilot ("you") in the sky.

Good night Cleveland! This is pure screamy dreamy powerpop perfection.
Rawk on.

I love that prechorus and chorus combo. Great 90s American alt rock tune
