Feb 2022 bolero
Lyrics by @arthurrossi
One-way-street
Still addicted to your eyes,
betrayed, wounded by your lies,
every step I do will hurt,
I’m free again, abandoned in this world…
For you, they were not enough,
few square meters filled with love,
always wanting so much more,
I gave you all, I’ve nothing left in store…
(Pre-Chorus)
Nip on your Chianti,
we woke up Dante,
look at this comedy we’ve been,
at this nightmare we called dream…
(Chorus)
Sour, salty, bittersweet…
this love was an one-way-street,
love and hate, and hope and cheat,
this love was an one-way-street,
this love was an one-way-street,
spicy, salty, bittersweet…
it was just an one-way-street…
This life now, where might it lead?
the life with you was bittersweet,
sometimes sour, sometimes hot,
now memories are all that I have got…
(Pre-Chorus)
Nip on your Chianti,
we woke up Dante,
look at this comedy we’ve been,
at this nightmare we called dream…
(Chorus)
Sour, salty, bittersweet…
this love was an one-way-street,
love and hate, and hope and cheat,
this love was an one-way-street,
this love was an one-way-street,
spicy, salty, bittersweet…
it was just an one-way-street…

love the second line in the verse melody, and the phrasing into the low notes. Nip on your Chianti, we woke up Dante... cool lyric! The strings add great accompaniment.

Nice arrangement and timing with the musical side of things.. I guess I haven't heard many boleros. I like this one. I like the many turns of phrases used. " Sour, salty, bittersweet" is pretty catchy. The theme of one-way street is interesting as well. Good collab!

Bass, not baritone. My upper register is really weak. No projection.
One-Way-Street: vocal range: E2-B3 (Love AND hate - SPICY)
Laineet: vocal range: C2-F#3 (MEren voimalla/yö YKsin - MEren aalto)

Really unique vibe on this, amazing baritone vocals and love the bolero feel. Great collab!

Also on Tim's recommendation, I came here, and really enjoyed the atmosphere you set up, the swooping intonation in and out of the usual temperament, the sound effects making the whole thing sway sideways like it was about to fall right out of tune with everything. That kind of playing fast and loose with harmonies really sends me, and it made the scene come alive in my mind, the reeling uncertainties and disappointments and fallings off the edge of anything solid.

By Tim's recommendation, I came to look at this version of Arthur's lyrics, and how glad I am that I did! This invokes the might of an entire Golden-Age-of-Cinema, and effectively at that. It swells and sighs and LIVES. Congratulations.

This comes across as out of the jazz age, stylish, danceable, crooner magic, a standard. So very different from how I heard it. The swirly chorus backing with the strigns coming in is really good. I appreciate the skilla nd cleverness of all those jazz modulations (with which I have difficulty if I'm playing standards at a restaurant gig! Sadly in the past....) Applause!!

I came back after enjoying your collaborations last time and i wasnt disappointed like stepping back in time. Good lyric delivered in a lovely style.
