Feb 2022 indie-folk
I had this verse riff in my head for a long time. There's that mix of stubbornness and regret about being a glass-half-empty kinda dude, and I'm about 60% satisfied with how clearly this song expresses that.
I won’t be upset when I’m bored and old
my fascination with the terrible
will keep me busy more or less
but I’ll take back every word I’ve said
I’m always lost inside the narrative
like rats that plunder trash and cigarettes
a picture perfect paradox
I can’t be grumpy when I’m gone
Blown away on the breeze
who’s gonna hear me now?
this body needs an owner’s manual
Clothed fed and sheltered like an animal
The pain’s much greater than it seems
oh I’ve heard it before,
get up and answer the door,
when love comes crawling through the floor
if there’s a universe that’s parallel
just give me something that’s comparable:
Alive, with too much shit to do
as long as there’s someone like you
Blown away on the breeze
who’s gonna hear me now?

seems like if you were truly satisfied with this that would defeat the point? hah. this is really "fun" in a get-off-my-existential-lawn kind of way. I like how you've changed the 3rd verse to be a bit more bridge-link in that last line. is "as long as there's someone like you" a happy thing or a "there's too much shit to do as long as there's someone like you" grumpiness?
I see on your bio you're open to collabs this year - any interest in teaming up on something?

I absolutely love the imaginative lyrics! "this body needs an owner’s manual" got me. Great work! :)

Fascination with the terrible is a killer hook line. This is indie rawk perfection. And the separatiion in the mail x in headphones is massive.

Aren't we all " fascination with the terrible", guess this makes us human. Aren't we all glass-half-empty at least half of the day, no
matter how hard we try? ... Really like the instrumentation, the song is pretty jaunty- Sorry to break to news, but you wrote a happy song! Bam!
