The False Prophet by Clint Lavens
There’s a man who speaks with the back of his hand
Not a very nice man you understand
Acts like he owns the street, the City beat
He want’s folks to worship at his feet
Says he knows it all, how to rise and fall
When the end comes it’s a flaming ball
So you must join, throw your coin
He shall lead the way but only if you pay
Beware the False Prophet < CHORUS
He’s up to no good
Beware the False Prophet
He will take you if he could
He always want’s more, feeds upon the poor
Yet only he can open the door
He says he is the chosen one
When all is said and done
So join the clan, step in line with the man
Whether you like it or not, he has a plan
What he says is false, but believes it’s true
Don’t fall for the con, it’s really up to you
CHORUS
Oh Yeah
The False Profit

Getting some Neil Young vibes with this one : both for the heavy ukulele strumming and the words. Heavy dancing on important matters.

Great "protest" song. There are far too many of these creeps around these days. How can people be so stupid as to turn to authoritarian figures to solve their problems. Politically, it is like we are back in the 30s, but there is no organised labour movement left to fight the rise of fascism.
I met one of these false prophets once. I describe it in Verse Three of this song from this year's FAWM:

What a great atmosphere the lofi sounds create. Feel like listening an old man telling a story and it´s better to pay attention because it is important but still kinda cryptic. Loved the solo bit at the end, very cool sound!

Stopped by to check out that microphone, love the vocal tone and how it fits in the production of this tune. Very nice instrumentation and how the vocals sit on top of it.

Why didn't I ever think of doing a VU-type song on uke? Damn, you beat me to it, but I still might try some day. The distorted guitar solo comes in just at the right time, and the phone mic on your vocals is just right for this song. If I hadn't read the lyrics, I might have thought you sang "so join the klan"...an interesting variation and maybe a clue to the kind of character who inspired these lyrics, maybe?

Cool vocal effect! It sets just the right tone for these lyrics. Oh my goodness you really sang through a red telephone mic - just saw the picture :D ! I thought it was a plug in. Love the harmonies in the chorus. Great vibe throughout and a nice sonic vehicle for the message in your lyrics. Very nice instrumentation throughout also.

I hate the False Prophet! (him and Mistra Know-it-all) Cool groove. Strong chorus. Nice one!
@billwhite51 Feb 2022
you use the rhythm guitar like a drum, as VU does. i like that kind of groove and it moves this song along majestically
@circle Feb 2022
my bad, seems to be my ISP blocking it. I don't know why, pretty weird!
like the roughness and the tambourine (?) in the backing, and the odd synthy sound worming in and out. awesome fuzzy solo in the outro

interested to hear this but the link doesn't work for me! it gives an error message
