First song of my 2022 FAWM! Excited to get back at it. I haven't made it to 14 yet, but I have a tendency to always produce my songs to the max so it takes a little longer . . . Anyhooo, enjoy!!
We were driving down the freeway
And the radio played a song
It was one I'd never heard before but you sang right along
And I don't know
I guess it's like I don't know you
I don't know you anymore
I don't know you anymore
I don't know
I don't know you anymore
I don't know you anymore
We were walking on the sand
And I asked you to hold my hand
But your thumb ended up on the other side from where it's always been
And I don't know
I guess it's like I don't know you
I don't know you anymore
I don't know you anymore
I don't know
I don't know you anymore
I don't know you anymore
It's the little things like one lump or two
How do you take it?
The little things like red green or blue
What do we make it out of?
Just a few more gaps in the memory
Just a little more space in the synapses
And I won't know you
I won't know you
I won't know you anymore
I won't know you anymore
I won't know you
I won't know you anymore
I won't know you anymore
But you don't know me
And I don't know you anymore
You don't know me anymore
But I don't know you
And you don't know me anymore
We don't know we anymore

After hearing Dreams (which is absolutely brilliant, btw) the other night at the WI FOP, I wanted to get over to your page and hear everything else you came up with this year! What an interesting concept for this song. How many little things need to change before we don't feel like we know that person anymore? This is exactly how people drift apart - whether friends, spouses, partners. It seems like the song is really about how relationships, if they're important to us, take work and real intentionality on both sides to make a go of it. Really nicely laid out lyrically, and the music flows along perfectly. You've got a great voice, too! Can't wait to hear the rest of your offerings...

Very Pat McGee-ish. Dig it!

Nice job brings me back to '90's "alt-rock' with some little bits sounding a bit Elvis-ish (Costello). I like
the variation of the phrasing in the chorus.

Solid folk-rock offering to start out the month! Your voice is so expressive and yet familiar, definitely gives me Chris Rice vibes. And a clever lyric, I’m especially caught by verse 2 with the detail about the thumb in a different place than usual.

Inadvertently clicked on this again, Second listen was even better. I was jamming along.

First reaction - WOW! great production especially on the on the initial intro. The lyrics are really insightful, all the little things, indicators of a waning relationship, "your thumb ended up on the other side".
Keep up the good work.

This is a cracking song (that's praise, BTW).
I really like the theme of the little things that mark the points where tiny changes represent a massive shift in our position within a relationship.
Great arrangement too. Melodic rock is my favourite genre.
I'm putting you on my watchlist. Look forward to the rest of your output.
If you want to make 14 - put out the bare bones of a song. You can always produce it after FAWM to the level you hear in your head.
