lowhum: I did not see that Bill had already done it and here is my version. Really liked the viewpoint of (retired?) agent
chorus 1
the first time i went to cuba
to assassinate fidel
the bullets bounced right off him
and he ate the empty shells
verse 1
you cry poverty
in luxery's lap
i live in a country
that is off the map
no beds for the sick
no food for the poor
we knock and we knock
no one comes to the door
chorus 2
the next time i went to cuba
to spin the roulette wheel
i got married to a prostitute
who practiced the art of the steal
verse two
your tower of bottle caps
and pieces of glass
stand tall while our bricks
in the earthquake collapse
a bridge falls to the river
there's no one to retrieve it
when you poison our orchards
nobody believes it
chorus 3
the last time i went to cuba
to see the rollling stones
i moved through the crowd
like a james bond clone

What a joy, the heady chorus kicking this off with the exuberant singing and the guitar. Makes me know I have got to hear ALL the story coming.
Love the guitar work here. And you're delivering these lyrics SO great. "nobody believes it" amazing line.
Yeah, I have got to download this one.

I love the take on this and that chord progression hit me straight away, but the way its delivered is brilliant. I could honestly listen to this for hours. I wrote a similar riff during FAWM . top work guys

HI Bill! I got your email. Sent you one in return. YES! So great working with you! Let's do it again!
@vegansongs Feb 2022
Ok Bill.. I'll try this one! I will use my arranger- I sing along playing live and it records an MP3 - Then you can take the MP3 file and add your vocal and remix the entire file? Yes? Becasue I haven't figured out how to use the sequencer and dump it into a DAW as seperate wave or midi files yet..

Powerful piece. Understated politics that mean it could slip under the radar of the "anti-snowflake" lot and thumping great images that spit like a Kalashnikov.

Drawn to this title because a few friends were able to visit Cuba right before we couldn't anymore a few years ago. You depict in just a few well-chosen and vivid words the conflicts and wild opposites there.
@bluejean Feb 2022
powerful words, Bill.
@sunfire Feb 2022
Love it. Good words. Good title. I think you meant "poverty".
@cindyrella Feb 2022
Whoa! This is very powerful and damn good!

I just love the imagery you use in your lyric writing. Brilliant!
