Taking an awesome Zoom class on embracing conflict. Just some insights from the class put into song!
VERSE 1
I rode in upon this horse
but forgot to take the reins
Barely holding on
in rough terrain
Believing stories
Forgetting to get to truth
it’s driving this divide
Between me and you
CHORUS
I’m gonna look in the mirror
Instead of staring out the window
Gonna study every line upon my face
Now I’m riding straight into the thunder
And lightning ‘cause I know can’t grow
without the rain, without the rain
VERSE 2
I rode in upon this horse
Coming to the rescue
My weary busted body
Black and blue
But you never needed a savior
You didn’t want a guide
You only wanted a friend
To stand by your side
BRIDGE
Oh, oh these wild horses
Oh, these beautiful wild horse
Oh, oh my wild horses
Oh, oh these beautiful wild horses
Oh forgive me
CHORUS
I’m gonna look in the mirror
Instead of staring out the window
Gonna study every line upon my face
Now I’m riding straight into the thunder
And lightning ‘cause I know can’t grow
without the rain, without the rain

This is wonderful... Very well-chosen words with a powerful imagery and a lovely sentiment... I particularly LOVE the lines
"Now I’m riding straight into the thunder
And lightning ‘cause I know can’t grow
without the rain, without the rain".
Very fittingly put to music with a gorgeous, tender tune and perfectly performed!

Beth, you are so good at taking songwriting inspiration from all sorts of life experiences. Hit by this lyric:
“But you never needed a savior
You didn’t want a guide
You only wanted a friend
To stand by your side”
Also- Cool percussion track driving the groove! (Curious what tools you use to make a track like this? I’m such a novice at programming…)

Second the Cyndi Lauper vibe, or maybe a little Stevie Nicks. Love it, great song, great job with the production.

daaaamn, gerl. So good. I get a big Cyndi Lauper vibe from this, which is a huge compliment. Rock on, friend! m/

I love this, Beth. The last lines of the chorus are insightful and strong and your delivery is perfect. Love the indie pop feel that creates a unique sound with your vocals and the synth that make a memorable song with a powerful message.

Hey! You're breaking the rules! We're supposed to be creating demos here, not completed songs! LOL!
Another great one. For a second I thought you might be doing an homage to "Time After Time", but the 4th chord wasn't an F and from there the song was clearly your own. Beautiful lift in the chorus that nicely embodies the message of empowerment.
Like everyone else, I found the synth texture to be enthralling. Finding those types of atmospheric touches is a weakness for me, so it always impresses when I see others do it well.

Great first track! You do these haunting things so well (like that ghost in a dream song)
@nancyrost Feb 2022
Really like the glitch synth textures bubbling along with the looping chords and rhythms. The pop makes a really cool counterpoint to the country-folk imagery and vocal style. As someone who was lucky enough to ride horses as a kid, the imagery rings true!
@negasi Feb 2022
This is absolutely lovely :D Enjoy the chorus lyric a lot!

You have all these nice little touches going on that I didn't notice at first because I was so caught up in your singing and the words. You've done a really cool job on this!

Hey this is great! Love the vocals and production. This is funny--I just posted a tune with wild horses in it too! :)
