Feb 2022 heavy spoken spoken-word poetry
coming in in under 60s i had/have tiktok video idea for this, but i haven't done that yet.
Edit 13/03/2022: have done the video now - also on youtube https://www.youtube.com/shorts/n1FZiLax2rQ - also tidied up the audio a fair bit.
hardcore parkour
i want to just do it
but i lack ability agility
strength and stability
oh the cool street nobility
of such smooth and sleek mobility
scaling walls like spiderman
leaping urban chasms
with an immunity to gravity
hop skip and jump you concrete athlete
so neat so sweet so quick on ya feet
it will always be one of my failings
a disappointment i don't slide down railings
hardcore parkour
@gardeningangel1 Mar 2022
I watched the video for this yesterday and must say, your nimble footwork adds a whole extra dimension of delightfulness. Your lyrical acrobatics never cease to amaze me.
@guatecoop Feb 2022
Your nimble and clever ways with language always astounds me. I wish that I had such a way with words. The backing track does seem to be intentionally counter to the words....Really well done.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
amuses me that the song's vibe and almost sluggishness is the antithesis of what you'd need to be good at parkour... so I guess that makes it the perfect marriage of someone who simply can't do it!
@gordon Feb 2022
Love this Wobbie! The background music is slightly off which really puts the focus on the lyrics. Great as ever.
@fearlessflight2014 Feb 2022
This is such an incredible lyric, I love all the interior rhymes and how the words themselves deepen the images being painted. Bravo Wobbie!
@seemanski Feb 2022
Love the poetry in your vocal delivery, I think this would stand up very easily without the music. However, the music gives it that grit and ferocity.
@jibbidy34 Feb 2022
That melodious electric guitar wailing in the background has stolen the show for me. Love it! The image of you sliding down railings is so funny. Maybe we can invent middle aged woman parkour? Surely that would involve us de-scaling the kettle or some such :)
@serene123 Feb 2022
it will always be one of my failings
a disappointment i don't slide down railings... LOL
@iwilleatyou Feb 2022
Ooooh I'm so with you on parkour. Absolutely love it. You should piece together footage and make a vid for this song. I'd call the song Hop Skip and Jump though.
@tunecat Feb 2022
Love it
@kendrakinsey Feb 2022
amazing rhyming, what? cool vocal parkour. I see what you did there
@theawkwardsleep Feb 2022
Ha, I feel ya. I wish I could do some hardcore parkour too. Love that the music just speaks to this so well.
@gwyn1234 Feb 2022
Another highly original perspective on what I believe are known as free runners...who else would write such a good lyric as this about something so niche as that...step forward Ms Wobbit!
@petemurphy Feb 2022
I feel ya, Wobbie. Just remaining upright for more than a few minutes feels like an achievement for me these days.
This rocks! The guitar is ace.
@jyllian Feb 2022
This is wonderful! It does look really cool and difficult to do. Great words in here.
@hornesgiftshop Feb 2022
I love it. To the point and with a great guitar sound. I can see you standing there as the youth of your fair city leap around you.
@cabinmonster Feb 2022
Ahh shtopppp!! I'm in stitches here. 'a dissapointment I don't slide down railings!!' your accent works so well with the 'hardcore Parkour'... Its a while different vibe said in my own Irish drawl. Lol.
@nahlej381 Feb 2022
That’s the stuff right there!
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
I love that manic music and the spoken word on top works! lovely interlude song!
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
This is pure punk poetry set to hardcore, heavenly heavy beats.
@richaaaay Feb 2022
You may have an immunity to gravity but your agility with words is beyond compare!!!
@rayboneor Feb 2022
Something about the way you say "hardcore parkour" had me laughing even before you got the meat of the lyric, which is great. Your deadpan delivery is always a winner. And this rocks in its quiet way, too. Maybe you should write a series of songs about all the things you can't do :)
@fuzzy Feb 2022
Hahaha yeah I could never do anything like that cos I'd probably hurt myself pretty badly.
I'm liking your spoken word stuff; you have a great voice for it.
Good guitar line there.
Yeah, well done!
@elesimo Feb 2022
Lovely, this one! It's like you're parkouring with words, jumping from word to word. :)
@billwhite51 Feb 2022
the heavy guitars betray the pretensions of t he slam poets in a way only wobbie can pull off. (a rhymer canno tell a lie)
@emkaydeebee Feb 2022
Love all the hard -ity’s - like the hitting hard of all the different surfaces. This track works on all levels - I just wanted it to be longer!
@andrea Feb 2022
I like the heavy music. It feels like parkour! The rhyming is crazy good. I like it all, but I particularly love these lines "leaping urban chasms
with an immunity to gravity".
@vomvorton Feb 2022
Gnarly guitars! And a fun lyric, I particularly like those last couple of lines (failings / railings)! I love watching parkour but definitely happy to spectate. and let other people hurt themselves :)
@cts Feb 2022
It's very rare that I see a parkour fail and it's rare for me to hear a tune from you I didn't like (not like I've actually come across one). What I dig the most about this is the word-play/rhyming scheme you put together; and just so you know: I'm soooo going to use "immunity to gravity" in some shape form or fashion.
