This song stems from a title I created almost 17 years ago. Thank the Random Name Picker gods for giving me a chance to work from it.
I decided to write from the perspective of a misanthropic drunkard. They've lost everything near and dear to them, and there's no point of going forward except to drink the days and nights away.
I have some ideas for a demo, and I'll post the music later once it's complete.
In a room filled with strangers
In four walls with no name
I can't gather my senses
Scorched by the heat of the flames
There's no light in the alleys
It's long been burnt out
It grew weary of shining
And I'd prefer living without
Don't pick me up, now, leave me be
With my broken beer bottles and broken dreams
As my coalmine eyes bleed blackened tears
For a face I'll never see again
I take two steps forward
And fall flat on my face
Feel the scrapes from the concrete
And the puddles that spray me like waves
I thought I could move mountains
But they shattered my teeth
And the one thing I cherished
Packed up her bags to move east
So, come on, bartender, I'd spare my dimes
For another shot of whiskey and a glass of wine
'Cause I'm sick of feeling guilty, I'm sick of crying
For a face I'll never see again
Yeah, don't pick me up, now, leave me be
In these broken beer bottles and broken dreams
As my coalmine eyes bleed blackened tears
For a face I'll never see again

Coalmine eyes bleed blacked tears is a great line. Look forward to hearing the demo. Nice work
