Barstool Cowboy
He’s just a barstool cowboy
At a neon rodeo
Trying to hold on till the end
Afraid to let it go
He started out, the sun was up
He’s getting to the end
Lights are flashing, closing time
He’s looking for a friend.
He saw her sitting all alone
Further down the line
He made his move and said hello
Told her she looked fine
CH
It wasn’t his first rodeo and wouldn’t be his last
She’d been to one or two herself, she had a checkered past
The crowd was gone, there’s not much choice at this simple roadside bar
Both knowing that, no matter what, it wouldn’t go too far
This ragged barstool cowboy
And this walking one night stand
Stole a kiss in the parking lot
He took her by the hand
They jumped into his pickup truck
And closed the door behind
They wrapped each other in their arms
They did their bump and grind
Their time was short together
A good time they agreed
they skulked away into the night
They both got what they need
CH
It wasn’t his first rodeo and wouldn’t be his last
She’d been to one or two herself, she had a checkered past
there’s not much choice at closing time at a simple roadside bar
You get just what you’re looking for at this honky tonk bazaar
there’s not much choice at closing time at this barroom rodeo
a lonely gal, a drink or two, and a barstool Romeo

Undoubtedly happening in roadside bars all over the place. I like the way you took the phrase "This isn't my first rodeo" and turned it into a whole song. And a good one!

Great title - made me want to hear the song! Love this lyric in particular "This ragged barstool cowboy, And this walking one night stand." Good job!

Love it with the classic feel, descriptive lyrics, and relatable storyline. I felt like I was sitting right next to them at the bar. I like the chorus too, and the concept of a honky tonk bazaar. Great song.
